Creating and preserving multi‐partite entanglement with spin chains

Abstract

Abstract We show how multi‐partite entanglement, such as of W‐state form, can be created in branched spin chain systems. We also discuss the preservation of such entanglement, once created. The technique could be applied to actual spin chain systems, or to other physical systems such as strings of coupled quantum dots, molecules or atoms. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Phonon‐induced disentanglement of confined excitons

Katarzyna Roszak, Paweł Machnikowski, Lucjan Jacak

Abstract We show that phonon‐induced pure dephasing of excitons in quantum dots, which leads only to partial decay of system coherence, may completely erase entanglement between two excitons. We also discuss the role of the distance between the subsystems for this disentanglement process. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Multipartite entanglement in quantum spin chains

Dagmar Bruß, Nilanjana Datta, ARTUR K. EKERT +2 more

We study the occurrence of multipartite entanglement in spin chains. We show that certain genuine multipartite entangled states, namely $W$ states, can be obtained as ground states of simple XX type ferromagnetic spin chains in a transverse magnetic field, for any number of sites. Moreover, multipartite entanglement is proven to exist even at finite temperatures. A transition from a product state to a multipartite entangled state occurs when decreasing the magnetic field to a critical value. Adiabatic passage through this point can thus lead to the generation of multipartite entanglement.

Spin‐Chain‐Star Systems: Entangling Multiple Chains of Spin Qubits

Roberto Grimaudo, Antonio S. M. de Castro, Antonino Messina +1 more

Abstract We consider spin‐chain‐star systems characterized byN‐wise many‐body interactions between the spins in each chain and the central one. We show that such systems can be exactly mapped into standard spin‐star systems through unitary transformations. Such an approach allows the solution of the dynamic problem of an spin‐chain‐star model and transparently shows the emergence of quantum correlations in the system, based on the idea of entanglement between chains.

An explicit demonstration of integrability for the linear Heisenberg chain of N = 9 nodes

S. Topolewicz, Tadeusz Lulek

Abstract We propose the system of N – 1 = 8 mutually commuting operators which classify all eigenstates of the Heisenberg Hamiltonian for the linear magnetic chain of N = 9 nodes, each with the spin 1/2. These eigenstates, determined exactly by Bethe Ansatz and classified combinatorially by rigged string configurations of Kerov, Kirillov and Reshetikhin, can be also associated with the spectrum of this set of commuting operators. Generating quantum states through spin chain dynamics

Alastair Kay

The spin chain is a theoretical work-horse of the physicist, providing a convenient, tractable model that yields insight into a host of physical phenomena including conduction, frustration, superconductivity, topological phases, localisation, phase transitions, quantum chaos and even string theory. Our ultimate aim, however, is not just to understand the properties of a physical system, but to harness it for our own ends. We therefore study the possibilities for engineering a special class of spin chain, envisaging the potential for this to feedback into the original physical systems. We pay particular attention to the generation of multipartite entangled states such as the W (Dicke) state, superposed over multiple sites of the chain.

Quantum entanglement of space domains occupied by interacting electrons

A. Ramšak, Jernej Mravlje, Tomaž Rejec

Abstract Spin‐entanglement of two electrons occupying two spatial regions – domains – is expressed in a compact form in terms of spin‐spin correlation functions. The power of the formalism is demonstrated on several examples ranging fromgeneration of entanglement by scattering of two electrons to the entanglement of a pair of qubits represented by a double quantum dot coupled to leads. In the latter case the collapse of entanglement due to the Kondo effect is analyzed (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
