Comment on “Identical motion in classical and quantum mechanics”

Abstract

Makowski and Konkel [Phys. Rev. A 58, 4975 (1998)] have obtained certain classes of potentials which lead to identical classical and quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equations. We obtain the most general form of these potentials.

Identical motion in classical and quantum mechanics

Adam J. Makowski, S. Konkel

General formulas are found for potentials that lead to the same motions in both classical and quantum mechanics. A class of time-dependent potentials with the above property is also discussed.Received 15 May 1998DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.58.4975©1998 American Physical Society

We show briefly that claims in the preceding Comment by Mostafazadeh [Phys. Rev. A 60, 5144 (1999)] are based mostly on an empty premise.Received 14 June 1999DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.60.5146©1999 American Physical Society

The Causal Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

Saul T. Epstein

In connection with the discussion given in a previous note, a classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation associated with the Schr\"odinger function in momentum space is derived. Certain "extra" terms in this equation are shown to be of quantum-mechanical origin.

It shown that the quantum-classical dynamical bracket recently proposed in J. Chem. Phys. 124, 201104 (2006) fails to satisfy the Jacobi identity.

A quantum route to Hamilton–Jacobi equation: comments and remarks

We consider the short-wave limit of evolutionary wave equations to derive the Hamilton–Jacobi equation. In particular we consider how to get wave mechanics from the abstract picture on Hilbert spaces. This ‘realisation’ contains an additional ingredient

Solutions of the Schrödinger equation given by solutions of the Hamilton--Jacobi equation

G. F. Torres del Castillo, C. Sosa Sánchez

We find the form of the potential depending on the coordinates and the time such that a solution, $S$, of the Hamilton--Jacobi equation yields an exact solution, $\exp ({\rm i} S/\hbar)$, of the corresponding Schrödinger equation.
