Abstract

The coherent states for a quantum particle on a circle are introduced. The Bargmann representation within the actual treatment provides the representation of the algebra , where U is unitary, which is a direct consequence of the Heisenberg algebra , but it is more adequate for the study of circular motion.

Abstract. The coherent states for the quantum particle on the circle are introduced. The Bargmann representation within the actual treatment provides the representation of the algebra [ ˆ J, U] = U, where U is unitary, which is a direct consequence of the Heisenberg algebra [ˆϕ, ˆ J] = i, but it is more adequate for the study of the circlular motion. Coherent states on the circle

José A. González, M. A. del Olmo, Dpto De Física Teórica

A careful study of the physical properties of a family of coherent states on the circle, introduced some years ago by de Bièvre and González in [DG 92], is carried out. They were obtained from the Weyl-Heisenberg coherent states in $L^2(\\R)$ by means of the Weil-Brezin-Zak transformation, they are labeled by the points of the cylinder $S^1 \\times \\R$, and they provide a realization of $L^2(S^1)$ by entire functions (similar to the well-known Fock-Bargmann construction). In particular, we compute the expectation values of the position and momentum operators on the circle and we discuss the Heisenberg uncertainty relation.

On the uncertainty relations and squeezed states for the quantum mechanics on a circle

K. Kowalski, Jakub Rembieliński

The uncertainty relations for the position and momentum of a quantum particle on a circle are identified as minimized by the corresponding coherent states. The squeezed states in the case of the circular motion are introduced and discussed in the context of the uncertainty relations.

Wigner functions and coherent states for the quantum mechanics on a circle

K. Kowalski, Karol Ławniczak

Abstract The Wigner functions for the coherent states of a particle on a circle are discussed. The nontrivial analytic forms of these functions are derived. The classicality of the circular coherent states existing in the literature as well as the new ones constructed by means of the Fourier transformation of the Gaussian is compared based on negativity of the Wigner function.

Quantum localisation on the circle

Rodrigo Fresneda, Jean‐Pierre Gazeau, Diego Noguera

Covariant integral quantisation using coherent states for semi-direct product groups is implemented for the motion of a particle on the circle. In this case, the phase space is the cylinder, which is viewed as a left coset of the Euclidean group E(2). Coherent states issued from fiducial vectors are labeled by points in the cylinder and depend also on extra parameters. We carry out the corresponding quantisations of the basic classical observables, particularly the angular momentum and the 2π-periodic discontinuous angle function. We compute their corresponding lower symbols. The quantum localisation on the circle is examined through the properties of the angle operator yielded by our procedure, its spectrum and lower symbol, its commutator with the quantum angular momentum, and the resulting Heisenberg inequality. Comparison with other approaches to the long-standing question of the quantum angle is discussed.
