Abstract

We propose a general scheme to measure the concurrence of an arbitrary two-qubit pure state in atomic systems. The protocol is based on one- and two-qubit operations acting on two available copies of the bipartite system, and followed by a global qubit readout. We show that it is possible to encode the concurrence in the probability of finding all atomic qubits in the ground state. Two possible scenarios are considered: atoms crossing three-dimensional microwave cavities and trapped ion systems.

Application of quantum algorithms to direct measurement of concurrence of a two-qubit pure state

Hong‐Fu Wang, Zhang Shou

This paper proposes a method to measure directly the concurrence of an arbitrary two-qubit pure state based on a generalized Grover quantum iteration algorithm and a phase estimation algorithm. The concurrence can be calculated by applying quantum algorithms to two available copies of the bipartite system, and a final measurement on the auxiliary working qubits gives a better estimation of the concurrence. This method opens new prospects of entanglement measure by the application of quantum algorithms. The implementation of the protocol would be an important step toward quantum information processing and more complex entanglement measure of the finite-dimensional quantum system with an arbitrary number of qubits.

Proposal for direct measurement of concurrence via visibility in a cavity QED system

Sang Min Lee, Se-Wan Ji, Hai-Woong Lee +1 more

An experimental scheme is proposed that allows direct measurement of the concurrence of a two-qubit cavity system. It is based on the cavity-QED technology using atoms as flying qubits and relies on the identity of the two-particle visibility of the atomic probability with the concurrence of the cavity system. The scheme works for any arbitrary pure initial state of the two-qubit cavity system.

Simple Scheme for Directly Measuring Concurrence of Two-Qubit Pure States in One Step

Rong‐Can Yang, Lin Xiu, Zhiping Huang +1 more

In the present work, a simple scheme for the direct measurement of the concurrence of two-qubit pure states is proposed. The scheme is based on trapped ions and only needs one step when the two identical pure states are given. The vibrational mode in our proposal is only virtually excited, which is important in view of decoherence. Furthermore, the scheme is feasible based on current technologies.

Single observable concurrence measurement without simultaneous copies

A. Salles, Fernando de Melo, J. C. Retamal +2 more

We present a protocol that allows us to obtain the concurrence of any two-qubit pure state by performing a minimal and optimal tomography of one of the subsystems through measuring a single observable of an ancillary four-dimensional qudit. An implementation for a system of trapped ions is also proposed, which can be achieved with present-day experimental techniques.

Measuring Multipartite Concurrence with a Single Factorizable Observable

Leandro Aolita, Florian Mintert

We show that, for any composite system with an arbitrary number of finite-dimensional subsystems, it is possible to directly measure the multipartite concurrence of pure states by detecting only one single factorizable observable, provided that two copies of the composite state are available. This result can be immediately put into practice in trapped-ion and entangled-photon experiments.

Experimental determination of entanglement for arbitrary pure states

Shao-Ming Fei, Ming‐Jing Zhao, Kai Chen +1 more

We present a way of experimentally determining the concurrence in terms of the expectation values of local observables for arbitrary multipartite pure states. Instead of the joint measurements on two copies of a state in the experiment for two-qubit systems [S. P. Walborn et al., Nature (London) 440, 20 (2006)], we only need one copy of the state in every measurement for any arbitrary dimensional multipartite systems, avoiding the preparation of twin states or the imperfect copy of the state.
