Abstract

We revisit a theoretical scheme to create quantum entanglement of two three-level superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) with the help of an auxiliary SQUID. In this scenario, two three-level systems are coupled to a quantized cavity field and a classical external field and thus form dark states. The quantum entanglement can be produced by a quantum measurement on the auxiliary SQUID. Our investigation emphasizes the quantum effect of the auxiliary SQUID. For the experimental feasibility and accessibility of the scheme, we calculate the time evolution of the whole system including the auxiliary SQUID. To ensure the efficiency of generating quantum entanglement, relations between the measurement time and dominate parameters of the system are analyzed according to detailed calculations.

Preparation of Entanglement and Schrödinger Cat States of Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices Qubits via Coupling to a Microwave Cavity

Wen‐Xing Yang

An alternative scheme is proposed for the generation of n-qubit W states of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) in cavity QED. In this scheme, Raman coupling of two lower flux states of SQUID system is achieved via a microwave pulse and the cavity mode. Conditioned on no photon leakage from the cavity, the n-qubit W state can be generated whether the effective coupling parameters of the SQUID to cavity mode and classical microwave fields are the same or different. Our strictly numerical simulations of the time evolution of the system including decay show that the success probability of our scheme is almost unity and the interaction time is on the order of 10 −9 s. The scheme can also be used to generate the Schrödinger cat states of multi-SQUID.

Generation of an Entangled State of Two Three-Level Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices in Cavity

Zhiming Zhan, Jiahua Li, Weibin Li

We propose a scheme for generating a maximally entangled state of two three-level superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) by using a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pluses in cavity. In this scheme, no quantum information will be transferred from the SQUIDs to the cavity since the cavity field is only virtually excited. Thus, the cavity decay is suppressed during the entanglement generation.

Unconventional Geometric Phase Gate with Superconducting Quantum Interference Device Qubits in Cavity QED

Wen‐Xing Yang, Ai-Xi Chen

In the system with superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) in cavity, a scheme for constructing two-qubit quantum phase gate via a conventional geometric phase-shift is proposed by using a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pulses. In this scheme, the gate operation is realized in the subspace spanned by the two lower flux states of the SQUID system and the population operator of the excited state has no effect on it. Thus the effect of decoherence caused from the levels of the SQUID system is possible to minimize. Under cavity decay, our strictly numerical simulation shows that it is also possible to realize the unconventional geometric phase gate. The experimental feasibility is discussed in detail.

Quantum logic gate operation and entanglement with superconducting quantum interference devices in a cavity via a Raman transition

Kehui Song, Zheng-Wei Zhou, Guang‐Can Guo

In the system with superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in cavity, the quantum logic gates operation and entanglement can be achieved by using a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pluses, via Raman transition. In this scheme, no transfer of quantum information between the SQUIDs and cavity is required, the cavity field is only virtually excited and thus the cavity decay is suppressed during the gate operation and entanglement generations. The gate operation and entanglement generations are realized by using only the two lower flux states of the SQUID system and the excited state would not be excited. Therefore, the effect of docoherence based on the levels of the SQUID system is possible to minimize.

Efficient scheme for quantum entanglement, quantum information transfer, and quantum gate with three-level SQUID qubits in cavity QED

Chui‐Ping Yang, Shih‐I Chu, Siyuan Han

A novel scheme is proposed for realizing quantum entanglement, quantum information transfer and a set of universal quantum gates with superconducting-quantum-interference-device (SQUID) qubits in cavity QED. In the scheme, the two logical states of a qubit are the two lowest levels of the SQUID. An intermediate level of the SQUID is utilized to facilitate coherent control and manipulation of quantum states of the qubits. The method presented here does not create finite intermediate-level population or cavity-photon population during the operations. Thus, decoherence due to spontaneous decay from the intermediate levels is minimized and the requirement on the quality factor of the cavity is greatly loosened.

We propose a scheme for generating the maximally entangled states of many superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) by using a quantized cavity field and classical microwave pulses in cavity. In the scheme, the maximally entangled states can be generated without requiring the measurement and individual addressing of the SQUIDs.
