Abstract

A new micro-irreversible 3D theory of quantum multichannel scattering in the three-body system is developed. The quantum approach is constructed on the generating trajectory tubes which allow taking into account influence of classical non-integrability on the dynamical quantum system. It was shown that when the volume of classical chaos in phase space is larger than quantum sell in the main object of quantum system the wavefunction generates chaos (quantum chaos). The probability of quantum transitions is constructed for this case. On the example of collinear collision of Li+(FH) -> (LiF)+H system is carried out the numerical calculation and was shown that in the system is generated quantum (wave) chaos.

INTERNAL TIME PECULIARITIES AS A CAUSE OF BIFURCATIONS ARISING IN CLASSICAL TRAJECTORY PROBLEM AND QUANTUM CHAOS CREATION IN THREE-BODY SYSTEM

А. В. Богданов, Ashot S. Gevorkyan, A. G. Grigoryan +1 more

A new formulation of the theory of quantum mechanical multichannel scattering for three body collinear systems is proposed. It is shown that for this simple case, the principle of quantum determinism in the general case breaks down, and we have a micro-irreversible quantum mechanics. The first principle calculations of the quantum chaos (wave chaos) were pursued on the example of an elementary chemical reaction Li+(FH)→(LiFH)*→(LiF)+ H.

Bifurcations in the trajectory problem as a cause of internal-time singularities and the onset of quantum (wave)chaos

А. В. Богданов, Ashot S. Gevorkyan, A. G. Grigoryan

A new theory is proposed for quantum-mechanical multichannel scattering in a collinear three-body system. This simple problem is used to show that the principle of quantum determinism is generally violated and we are dealing with microirreversible quantum mechanics. Fundamental calculations of quantum (wave) chaos are presented for the first time for the elementary reaction Li+(FH)→(LiFH)*→LiF+H.

The new formulation of the theory of multichannel scattering on the example of collinear model is proposed. It is shown, that in the closed three-body scattering system the principle of quantum determinism in general case breaks down and we have a micro- irreversible quantum mechanics.

Chaos in atomic physics

T. S. Monteiro

The influence of quantum chaos on small atomic systems is reviewed. It now seems clear that chaos in the usually understood sense (e.g. exponential sensitivity to perturbations) is not found in isolated quantum systems. However, there are phenomena which appear only when the corresponding classical system is chaotic. The stability of the classical dynamics, in other words whether it is regular or chaotic, has a profound effect on the character of the corresponding quantum spectrum and wavefunctions.

CHAOTIC DYNAMICS OF SOME QUANTUM ANHARMONIC OSCILLATORS

Pratim Kumar Chattaraj, S. Sengupta, Arpita Poddar

Quantum domain behaviour of classically chaotic systems is studied using the quantum theory of motion in teh sense of clasical interpretationof quantum mechanics as developed by de Broglie and Bohm. Dynamics of quantum Henon- Heiles oscillatorm barbanis oxcillatior and CTW oscillator are ananysed with the help of quantum Lypunov exponent and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy defined in terms of the distance between two initially close Bohmian trajectories. Standard diagnostics of quantum chaos like auticorrelation function and the assocated power spectrum, nearest neighbour spacing distribution phase space volume, spectral rigidity, etc. support these results. Quantum theory of motion provides an alternative route for understanding quantum chaos. Nonlinear dynamics of integrable systems in quantum domain is also properly taken care of within this framework.

Studies of Classically Chaotic Quantum Systems within the Pseudo-Probablilty Formalism

Roberto Roncaglia

The evolution of classically chaotic quantum systems is analyzed within the formalism of Quantum Pseudo-Probability Distributions. Due to the deep connections that a quantum system shows with its classical correspondent in this representation, the Pseudo-Probability formalism appears to be a useful method of investigation in the field of "Quantum Chaos." In the first part of the thesis we generalize this formalism to quantum systems containing spin operators. It is shown that a classical-like equation of motion for the pseudo-probability distribution ρw can be constructed, dρw/dt = (L_CL + L_QGD)ρw, which is rigorously equivalent to the quantum von Neumann-Liouville equation. The operator L_CL is undistinguishable from the classical operator that generates the semiclassical equations of motion. In the case of the spin-boson system this operator produces semiclassical chaos and is responsible for quantum irreversibility and the fast growth of quantum uncertainty. Carrying out explicit calculations for a spin-boson Hamiltonian the joint action of L_CL and L_QGD is illustrated. It is shown that the latter operator, L_QGD makes the spin system 'remember' its quantum nature, and competes with the irreversibility induced by the former operator. In the second part we test the idea of the enhancement of the quantum uncertainty triggered by the classical chaos by investigating the analogous effect of diffusive excitation in periodically kicked quantum systems. The classical correspondents of these quantum systems exhibit, in the chaotic region, diffusive behavior of the unperturbed energy. For the Quantum Kicked Harmonic Oscillator, in the case of quantum resonances, we provide an exact solution of the quantum evolution. This proves the existence of a deterministic drift in the energy increase over time of the system considered. More generally, this "superdiffusive" excitation of the energy is due to coherent quantum mechanical tunnelling between degenerate tori of the classical phase space. In conclusion we find that some of the quantum effects resulting from this fast increase do not have any classical counterpart, they are mainly tunnelling processes. This seems to be the first observation of an effect of this kind.
