Abstract

Inseparability criteria for continuous and discrete bipartite quantum states based on moments of annihilation and creation operators are studied by developing the idea of Shchukin-Vogel criterion [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 230502 (2005)]. If a state is separable, then the corresponding matrix of moments is separable too. Thus, we derive generalized criteria based on the separability properties of the matrix of moments. In particular, a criterion based on realignment of moments in the matrix is proposed as an analog of the standard realignment criterion for density matrices. Other inseparability inequalities are obtained by applying positive maps to the matrix of moments. Usefulness of the Shchukin-Vogel criterion to describe bipartite-entanglement of more than two modes is demonstrated: we obtain various three-mode inseparability criteria, including some previously known ones, which were originally derived from the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.

Fock-space inseparability criteria of bipartite continuous-variable quantum states

Xiaoyu Chen

We prove that previous various forms of the inseparability of a Gaussian state are equivalent to the negativity of a partial transposed density matrix in the one-photon Fock subspace. We give an infinite series of inequalities; the fulfillment of each inequality shows the presence of entanglement in bipartite systems. For many non-Gaussian states, we show that Fock-space inseparability criteria are theoretically more efficient and simpler than Shchukin-Vogel criteria, which are based on the moments of the states.

Entanglement Criterion for Bipartite Quantum States: Applications

Truong Minh Duc, Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoai

In this paper, we use a criterion provided by E. Shchukin and W. Vogel [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 230502 (2005)] for determining when a bipartite quantum state is entangled. We first show that the entanglement criterion is necessary and sufficient condition for the partial transposition of the bipartite quantum states. Furthermore, previously known entanglement criteria are proved to be special cases of this criterion. We then apply the entanglement criterion to determine entangled property of several non-classical two-mode states. Finally, we provide the conclusion about this criterion.

Moments based entanglement criteria and measures

Abstract Quantum entanglement plays a key role in quantum computation and quantum information processing. It is of great significance to find efficient and experimentally friend separability criteria to detect entanglement. In this paper, we firstly propose two easily used entanglement criteria based on matrix moments. The first entanglement criterion only uses the first two realignment moments of a density matrix. The second entanglement criterion is based on the moments related to the partially transposed matrix. By detailed examples we illustrate the effectiveness of these criteria in detecting entanglement. Moreover, we provide an experimentally measurable lower bound of concurrence based on these moments. Finally, we present both bipartite and genuine tripartite entanglement measures based on the moments of the reduced states. By detailed examples, we show that our entanglement measures characterize the quantum entanglement in a more fine ways than the existing measures.

Separability of Mixed Quantum States: Linear Contractions and Permutation Criteria

Michał Horodecki, Paweł Horodecki, Ryszard Horodecki

Recently, a powerful separability criterion was introduced by O. Rudolf in [5] and by K. Chen et al. in [6] — basing on realignment of elements of density matrix. Composing the main idea behind the above criterion and the necessary and sufficient condition in terms of positive maps, we provide a characterization of separable states by means of linear contractions. The latter need not be positive maps. We extend the idea to multipartite systems, and find that, somewhat suprisingly, partial realigment (unlike partial transposition) can detect genuinely tri-parite entanglement. We generalize it by introducing a family of so called permutation separability criteria for multipartite states. Namely, any permutation of indices of density matrix written in product basis leads to a separability criterion. Partial transpose and realignment criterion are special cases of permutation criteria.

Bipartite quantum systems: on the realignment criterion and beyond

Cosmo Lupo, Paolo Aniello, Antonello Scardicchio

Inspired by the `computable cross norm' or `realignment' criterion, we propose a new point of view about the characterization of the states of bipartite quantum systems. We consider a Schmidt decomposition of a bipartite density operator. The corresponding Schmidt coefficients, or the associated symmetric polynomials, are regarded as quantities that can be used to characterize bipartite quantum states. In particular, starting from the realignment criterion, a family of necessary conditions for the separability of bipartite quantum states is derived. We conjecture that these conditions, which are weaker than the parent criterion, can be strengthened in such a way to obtain a new family of criteria that are independent of the original one. This conjecture is supported by numerical examples for the low dimensional cases. These ideas can be applied to the study of quantum channels, leading to a relation between the rate of contraction of a map and its ability to preserve entanglement.

Separability criteria based on the realignment of density matrices and reduced density matrices

Shu‐Qian Shen, Mengyuan Wang, Ming Li +1 more

By combining a parameterized Hermitian matrix, the realignment matrix of the bipartite density matrix, and the vectorization of its reduced density matrices, we present a family of separability criteria which are stronger than the computable cross-norm or realignment (CCNR) criterion. With linear contraction methods, the proposed criteria can be used to detect the multipartite entangled states that are biseparable under any bipartite partitions. Moreover, we show by examples that the presented multipartite separability criteria can be more efficient than the corresponding multipartite realignment criterion based on CCNR, multipartite correlation tensor criterion, and multipartite covariance matrix criterion.
