CONTINUOUS-TIME QUANTUM WALKS ON TREES IN QUANTUM PROBABILITY THEORY

Abstract

A quantum central limit theorem for a continuous-time quantum walk on a homogeneous tree is derived from quantum probability theory. As a consequence, a new type of limit theorems for another continuous-time walk introduced by the walk is presented. The limit density is similar to that given by a continuous-time quantum walk on the one-dimensional lattice.

This paper is concerned with the continuous-time quantum walk on ℤ, ℤ d , and infinite homogeneous trees. By using the generating function method, we compute the limit of the average probability distribution for the general isotropic walk on ℤ, and for nearest-neighbor walks on ℤ d and infinite homogeneous trees. In addition, we compute the asymptotic approximation for the probability of the return to zero at time t in all these cases.

Limit Theorems for Discrete-Time Quantum Walks on Trees

Kota Chisaki, Masatoshi Hamada, Norio Konno +1 more

We consider a discrete-time quantum walk Wt given by the Grover transformation on the homogeneous tree. We reduce Wt to a quantum walk Xt on a half line with a wall at the origin. This paper presents two types of limit theorems for Xt. The first one is Xt as t→∞, which corresponds to a localization in the case of an initial qubit state. The second one is Xt⁄t as t→∞, whose limit density is given by the Konno density function [1–4]. The density appears in various situations of discrete-time cases. The corresponding similar limit theorem was proved in [5] for a continuous-time case on the homogeneous tree.

STUDY OF CONTINUOUS-TIME QUANTUM WALKS ON QUOTIENT GRAPHS VIA QUANTUM PROBABILITY THEORY

S. Salimi

In the present paper, we study the continuous-time quantum walk on quotient graphs. On such graphs, there is a straightforward reduction of the problem to a subspace that can be considerably smaller than the original one. Along the lines of reductions, by using the idea of calculation of the probability amplitudes for continuous-time quantum walk in terms of the spectral distribution associated with the adjacency matrix of graphs [Jafarizadeh and Salimi (Ann. Phys.322 (2007))], we show that the continuous-time quantum walk on original graph Γ induces a continuous-time quantum walk on quotient graph ΓH. Finally, for example, we investigate the continuous-time quantum walk on some quotient Cayley graphs.

Realization of the probability laws in the quantum central limit theorems by a quantum walk

Takuya Machida

Since a limit distribution of a discrete-time quantum walk on the line was derived in 2002, a lot of limit theorems for quantum walks with a localized initial state have been reported. On the other hand, in quantum probability theory, there are four notions of independence (free, monotone, commuting, and boolean independence) and quantum central limit theorems associated to each independence have been investigated. The relation between quantum walks and quantum probability theory is still unknown. As random walks are fundamental models in the Kolmogorov probability theory, can the quantum walks play an important role in quantum probability theory? To discuss this problem, we focus on a discrete-time 2-state quantum walk with a non-localized initial state and present a limit theorem. By using our limit theorem, we generate probability laws in the quantum central limit theorems from the quantum walk.

Continuous‐Time Quantum Walk on the Homogeneous Tree

Qi Han, Rong Zhang, Lijie Gou +1 more

ABSTRACT In this paper, we explore continuous‐time quantum walk on homogeneous tree. By applying the stratification method, we treat vertices in the same stratum of a homogeneous tree as a single vertex and obtain the probability amplitudes for different strata in finite homogeneous tree parts. In particular, when (where denotes the number of strata), we derive the probability amplitudes for each stratum of the homogeneous tree, considering the homogeneous tree's transition from a finite to infinite structure.
