Abstract

We propose an approach to realize an $n$-qubit controlled-$U$ gate with superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in cavity QED. In this approach, the two lowest levels of a SQUID represent the two logical states of a qubit while a higher-energy intermediate level serves the gate manipulation. Our method operates essentially by creating a single photon through one of the control SQUIDs and then performing an arbitrary unitary transformation on the target SQUID with the assistance of the cavity photon. In addition, we show that the method can be applied to implement an $n$-qubit controlled-$U$ gate with atomic qubits in cavity QED.

An Efficient Scheme for Implementing an N -Qubit Toffoli Gate with Superconducting Quantum-Interference Devices in Cavity QED

An alternative approach is proposed to realize an n -qubit Toffoli gate with superconducting quantum-interference devices (SQUIDs) in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the proposal, we represent two logical gates of a qubit with the two lowest levels of a SQUID while a higher-energy intermediate level of each SQUID is utilized for the gate manipulation. During the operating process, because the cavity field is always in vacuum state, the requirement on the cavity is greatly loosened and there is no transfer of quantum information between the cavity and SQUIDs.

n -qubit-controlled phase gate with superconducting quantum-interference devices coupled to a resonator

Chui‐Ping Yang, Siyuan Han

We present a way to realize an $n$-qubit controlled phase gate with superconducting quantum-interference devices (SQUIDs) by coupling them to a superconducting resonator. In this proposal, the two logical states of a qubit are represented by the two lowest levels of a SQUID. An intermediate level of each SQUID is utilized to facilitate coherent control and manipulation of quantum states of the qubits. It is interesting to note that an $n$-qubit controlled phase gate can be achieved with $n$ SQUIDs by successively applying a $\ensuremath{\pi}∕2$ Jaynes-Cummings pulse to each of the $n\ensuremath{-}1$ control SQUIDs before and after a $\ensuremath{\pi}$ Jaynes-Cummings pulse on the target SQUID.

Efficient scheme for quantum entanglement, quantum information transfer, and quantum gate with three-level SQUID qubits in cavity QED

Chui‐Ping Yang, Shih‐I Chu, Siyuan Han

A novel scheme is proposed for realizing quantum entanglement, quantum information transfer and a set of universal quantum gates with superconducting-quantum-interference-device (SQUID) qubits in cavity QED. In the scheme, the two logical states of a qubit are the two lowest levels of the SQUID. An intermediate level of the SQUID is utilized to facilitate coherent control and manipulation of quantum states of the qubits. The method presented here does not create finite intermediate-level population or cavity-photon population during the operations. Thus, decoherence due to spontaneous decay from the intermediate levels is minimized and the requirement on the quality factor of the cavity is greatly loosened.

A proposal for implementing ann-qubit controlled-rotation gate with three-level superconducting qubit systems in cavity QED

Chui‐Ping Yang

We present a method for implementing an n-qubit controlled-rotation gate with three-level superconducting qubit systems in cavity quantum electrodynamics. The two logical states of a qubit are represented by the two lowest levels of each system while a higher energy level is used for the gate implementation. The method operates essentially by preparing a W state conditioned on the states of the control qubits, creating a single photon in the cavity mode, and then performing an arbitrary rotation on the states of the target qubit with the assistance of the cavity photon. It is interesting to note that the basic operational steps for implementing the proposed gate do not increase with the number of qubits n, and the gate operation time decreases as the number of qubits increases. This proposal is quite general, and can be applied to various types of superconducting devices in a cavity or coupled to a resonator.

IMPLEMENTING AN n-QUBIT FREDKIN GATE WITH SUPERCONDUCTING QUANTUM-INTERFERENCE DEVICES IN CAVITY QED

Anshou Zheng, Yongjin Cheng, JIBIN LIU +2 more

An alternative scheme is proposed in this paper to realize an n-qubit Fredkin gate with superconducting quantum-interference device (SQUID) in cavity QED. The multiqubit logical gate is essentially accomplished by a sequence of operations on only two SQUIDs in a large-detuned cavity. In the scheme, the two logical states of a qubit are presented by the two lowest states of a SQUID and the cavity is always in vacuum state so that the limit on the cavity is not serious.

Quantum logical gates with four-level superconducting quantum interference devices coupled to a superconducting resonator

We propose a way for realizing a two-qubit controlled phase gate with superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) coupled to a superconducting resonator. In this proposal, the two lowest levels of each SQUID serve as the logical states and two intermediate levels of each SQUID are used for the gate realization. We show that neither adjustment of SQUID level spacings during the gate operation nor uniformity in SQUID parameters is required by this proposal. In addition, this proposal does not require the adiabatic passage or a second-order detuning and thus the gate is much faster.
