Abstract

We examine the properties of an atom laser produced by outcoupling from a Bose-Einstein condensate with squeezed light. We introduce a method which allows us to model the full multimode dynamics of the squeezed optical field and the outcoupled atoms. We show that for experimentally reasonable parameters that the quantum statistics of the optical field are almost completely transferred to the outcoupled atoms, and investigate the robustness to the coupling strength and the two-photon detuning.

Outcoupling from a Bose-Einstein condensate with squeezed light to produce entangled-atom laser beams

Simon A. Haine, J. J. Hope

We examine the properties of an atom laser produced by outcoupling from a Bose-Einstein condensate with squeezed light. We model the multimode dynamics of the output field and show that a significant amount of squeezing can be transferred from an optical mode to a propagating atom laser beam. We use this to demonstrate that two-mode squeezing can be used to produce twin atom laser beams with continuous variable entanglement in amplitude and phase.

Model of the atom laser with Raman outcoupling

Chasib A. Emshary, Shaker I. Esa, Arafat J. Almanea

In the present paper, the authors start from the interaction of a system of two-level atoms with an electromagnetic field to drive the interaction Hamiltonian between these two-level atoms. Second, introduce the equations of motion which describing the dynamics of atom laser depending on the interaction Hamiltonian, this interaction Hamiltonian will be used to describe the outcoupling process in a Raman atom laser. Also, the authors model the dynamics of an atom laser produced by outcoupling three-level atoms from a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) via a Raman transition and investigate the transfer of quantum statistics from one of the optical modes to the atomic field. Finally, the authors mathematical treatment leads to the same as equations appears in literature which allowed obtaining the dynamics for any atom laser systems.

Generating Controllable Atom-Light Entanglement with a Raman Atom Laser System

Simon A. Haine, M. K. Olsen, J. J. Hope

We introduce a scheme for creating continuous variable entanglement between an atomic beam and an optical field, by using squeezed light to outcouple atoms from a Bose-Einstein condensate via a Raman transition. We model the full multimode dynamics of the atom laser beam and the squeezed optical field and show that, with appropriate two-photon detuning and two-photon Rabi frequency, the transmitted light is entangled in amplitude and phase with the outcoupled atom laser beam. The degree of entanglement is controllable via changes in the two-photon Rabi frequency of the outcoupling process.

Non-Markovian dynamics in atom-laser outcoupling from a double-well Bose–Einstein condensate

Constantinos Lazarou, Georgios M. Nikolopoulos, P. Lambropoulos

We investigate the dynamics of a continuous atom laser based on the merging of independently formed atomic condensates. In a first attempt to understand the dynamics of the system, we consider two independent elongated Bose–Einstein condensates which approach each other and focus on intermediate inter-trap distances so that a two-mode model is well justified. In the framework of a mean-field theory, we discuss the quasi-steady-state population of the traps as well as the energy distribution of the outcoupled atoms.

Quantum-dynamical theory for squeezing the output of a Bose-Einstein condensate

Hui Jing, Jing‐Ling Chen, Mo‐Lin Ge

A linear quantum dynamical theory for squeezing the output of the trapped Bose-Einstein condensate is presented with the Bogoliubov approximation. We observe that the nonclassical properties, such as sub-Poisson distribution and quadrature squeezing effect, mutually oscillate between the quantum states of the applied optical field and the resulting atom laser beam with time. In particular, it is shown that an initially squeezed optical field will lead to squeezing in the outcoupled atomic beam at later times.

Aim The purpose of this paper is to study the quantum properties of two-mode light fields interacting with Bose-Einstein condensate. Methods Bogoliubov's method is used to resolve the dynamic equations of the system. Results During the course of the interaction between two-mode light field and Bose-Einstein condensate, the two quadrature components of the light fields can be squeezed periodically, the photons produce bunching effect. Conclusion The correlation between the two modes always shows the non-classical correlation in the process of interaction between light fields and Bose-Einstein condensate.
