Classicality and connectedness for state property systems and closure spaces

Abstract

It has been shown that there is a categorical equivalence between the category SPS of state property systems and the category Cl of closure spaces. In this note we prove, using this equivalence between categories, that the concept of connectedness for closure spaces can be used to formulate a decomposition theorem, which allows us to split a state property system into a number of 'pure nonclassical state property systems' and a 'totally classical state property system'.

Connectedness Applied to Closure Spaces and State Property Systems

Diederik Aerts, Didier Deses, Van der Voorde, An

In earlier work a description of a physical entity is given by means of a state property system and it is proven that any state property system is equivalent to a closure space. In the present paper we investigate the relations between classical properties and connectedness for closure spaces. The main result is a decomposition theorem, which allows us to split a state property system into a number of 'pure nonclassical state property systems' and a 'totally classical state property system'

Decomposition Theorem for State Property Systems

Diederik Aerts, Didier Deses, Bart D’Hooghe

We prove a decomposition theorem for orthocomplemented state property systems. More specifically we prove that an orthocomplemented state property system is isomorphic to the direct union of the non classical components of this state property system over the state space of the classical state property system of this state property system.

Classical and quantum conditional measures from a categorical viewpoint (Mathematics in Quantum System Estimation)

Hitoshi Motoyama, Kohei Tanaka

This paper presents categorical structures on classical measure spaces and quantum measure spaces in order to deal with canonical maps associated with conditional measures as morphisms. We extend the Riesz-Markov-Kakutani representation theorem and the Gelfand duality theorem to an equivalence of categories between them. From this categorical viewpoint, we introduce a quantum version of conditional measures as a dual concept of the classical one.

Schmidt decomposition of mixed-pure states for (d,infinity ) systems and some applications

Roman Gielerak

Summary. A simple derivation of finite Schmidt decomposition of pure states describing finite dimensional systems interacting with the infinite dimensional ones is presented. In particular, maximally entangled pure states in such systems are being characterized. The concept of mixed-pure states has been introduced and some criterions for checking separability and entanglement of them are presented .The notion of LOCC equivalence and LOCC semi-order on the space of pure states of systems analyzed has been adopted suitably. In particular a Nielsen -like theorem has been extended to the pure (d, infinity )- states case. The notion of spin-orbit entanglement in the context of atomic physics is being discussed from a mathematical perspective. Keywords: quantum entanglement, Schmidt decomposition, mixed-pure states, LOCC semi-order, spin-orbit entanglement
