Abstract

We study the entanglement of the superconducting charge qubit with the quantized electromagnetic field in a microwave cavity. It can be controlled dynamically by a classical external field threading the SQUID within the charge qubit. Utilizing the controllable quantum entanglement, we can demonstrate the dynamic process of the quantum storage of information carried by charge qubit. On the other hand, based on this engineered quantum entanglement, we can also demonstrate a progressive decoherence of charge qubit with quantum jump due to the coupling with the cavity field in quasi-classical state.

Entanglement Dynamics of Three Superconducting Charge Qubits Coupled to a Cavity

Yu-Jing Zhao, Xianwu Mi, Shao-Hua Xiang +2 more

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of a quantum system consisting of three superconducting charge qubits (SCQs) interacting with a microwave field. For separable and entangled states of the SCQs, the evolutions are studied under various photon numbers of cavity field. The results show that the amplitude and period of the bipartite entanglement square concurrences can be controlled by the choice of initial states of SCQs and photon number of cavity field, respectively. This simple model of a quantum register allows us to understand the dynamic process of the quantum storage of information carried by charge qubit.

Multipartite entanglement in the interaction system between a single-mode microwave cavity field and superconducting charge qubits

Shi Zhen-Gang, Xiongwen Chen, Zhu Xi-Xiang +1 more

This paper proposes a method of generating multipartite entanglement through using d.c. superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) inside a standing wave cavity. In this scheme, the d.c. SQUID works in the charge region. It is shown that, a large number of important multipartite entangled states can be generated by a controllable interaction between a cavity field and qubits. It is even possible to produce entangled states involving different cavity modes based on the measurement of charge qubits states. After such superpositions states are created, the interaction can be switched off by the classical magnetic field through the SQUID, and there is no information transfer between the cavity field and the charge qubits.

Preparation of macroscopic quantum superposition states of a cavity field via coupling to a superconducting charge qubit

Yu-xi Liu, L. F. Wei, Franco Nori

We propose how to generate macroscopic quantum superposition states using a microwave cavity containing a superconducting charge qubit. Based on the measurement of charge states, we show that the superpositions of two macroscopically distinguishable coherent states of a single-mode cavity field can be generated by a controllable interaction between a cavity field and a charge qubit. After such superpositions of the cavity field are created, the interaction can be switched off by the classical magnetic field, and there is no information transfer between the cavity field and the charge qubit. We also discuss the generation of the superpositions of two squeezed coherent states.

Engineering Progressive Decoherence with Quantum Jumps in Charge Qubit

Y. D. Wang, Gao, Y. B., C. P. Sun

For the Josephson junction charge qubits with macroscopically quantum natures, we propose a theoretical scheme to observe the loss of quantum coherence through coupling such qubit system to an engineered reservoir, the harmonic oscillator mode in the LC circuit formed by the inductor and the separated capacitors. Similar to the usual cavity QED system in form, this charge qubit system with engineered couplings shows the quantum jumps (C.P.Sun et al Fortschr. Phys. \textbf{43}, 585 (1995))in a progressive decoherence process. Corresponding to two components of superposition of two charge states, the inductor evolves simultaneously towards two distinct quasi-classical states entangling with two states of the charge qubit. Then it induces the quantum decoherence for the induced squeezing macroscopically in the LC mode.

Preparation of a superposition of squeezed coherent states of a cavity field via coupling to a superconducting charge qubit

Dagoberto S. Freitas

The generation of nonclassical states of a radiation field has become increasingly important in the past years given its various applications in quantum communication. The feasibility of generating such nonclassical states has been established in several branches of physics such as cavity electrodynamics, trapped ions, quantum dots, atoms inside cavities and so on. In this sense, we will discuss the issue of the generation of nonclassical states in the context of a superconducting qubit in a microcavity. It has been recently proposed a way to engineer quantum states using a SQUID charge qubit inside a cavity with a controllable interaction between the cavity field and the charge qubit. The key ingredients to engineer these quantum states are a tunable gate voltage and a classical magnetic field applied to SQUID. Some models including these ingredients and using some appropriate approximations which allow for the linearization of the interaction and nonclassical states of the field were generated. Since decoherence is known to affect quantum effects uninterruptedly and decoherence process are works even when the quantum state is being formed, therefore, it is interesting to envisage processes through which quantum superpositions are generated as fast as possible. The decoherence effect has been studied and quantified in the context of cavity QED where it is shown that the more quantum is the superposition, more rapidly the environmental effects occur during the process of creating the quantum state. In the latter reference, we have succeeded in linearizing the Hamiltonian through the application of an appropriate unitary transformation and for certain values of the parameters involved, we have showed that it is possible to obtain specific Hamiltonians. In this work we will use such approach for preparing superposition of two squeezed coherent states.

Scheme for Generating Cluster States with Charge Qubits in a Cavity

Kehui Song

Based on superconducting charge qubits (SCCQs) coupled to a single-mode microwave cavity, we propose a scheme for generating charge cluster states. For all SCCQs, the controlled gate voltages are all in their degeneracy points, the quantum information is encoded in two logic states of charge basis. The generation of the multi-qubit cluster state can be achieved step by step on a pair of nearest-neighbor qubits. Considering effective long-rang coupling, we provide an efficient way to one-step generating of a highly entangled cluster state, in which the qubit-qubit coupling is mediated by the cavity mode. Our quantum operations are insensitive to the initial state of the cavity mode by removing the influence of the cavity mode via the periodical evolution of the system. Thus, our operation may be against the decoherence from the cavity.
