Abstract

In the present paper we study the interaction of a photonic field with a particle in a magnetic field. We use formalism similar to the Born-Oppenheimer approximation of molecular physics and we eliminate the photonic field variables by using a method related to the Berry phase to obtain an effective Hamiltonian and then extract the propagator of the particle. As an initial photonic state we assume a coherent one.

Hamiltonian systems and semiclassical dynamics for interacting spins in QED

Laurent Amour, Jean Nourrigat

In this article, we consider fixed spin-1/2 particles interacting through the quantized electromagnetic field in a constant magnetic field. We give approximate evolutions of coherent states. This uses spins-photon classical Hamiltonian mechanics. These approximations enable to derive that the approximate average fields and spins follow Maxwell-Bloch equations with a current density coming from spins. In addition, we obain a law concerning the evolution of the approximate average number of photons. Next, we provide stationary points of the spins-photon Hamiltonian when the spin particles belong to an orthogonal plane to the constant magnetic field. This allows for the construction of quasimodes with spins colinear to the constant magnetic field. Finally, a quasimode with an arbitrary high accuracy is built up and its first order radiative correction is computed.

Path integral for spinning particle in magnetic field via bosonic coherent states

Tahar Boudjedaa, Abdelhafid Bounames, L. Chétouani +2 more

Using the coherent states representation and the Schwinger boson model, the propagator of a spinning particle in interaction with an arbitrary magnetic field is derived in the framework of the path integral formalism. To show the relevance of the formalism to some applications, the Green function of spinning particle s=1/2 in special configuration of magnetic field is calculated. The transition amplitude and Berry’s phase for an arbitrary spin and time dependent magnetic field are deduced. The case of half integer spin is also considered.

Evolution and Berry Phase of Spin-1 Particles in a Rotating Magnetic Field

Yan Yu-zhen

The evolutions of spin particles in a rotating magnetic field are discussed. We obtained the wavefunctions of the spin 1/2 and spin 3/2 particles by the trial function method. The Berry phase of the system are also discussed after an evolution period.

Berry’s phase for coherent states of Landau levels

Wenlong Yang, Jing‐Ling Chen

The Berry phases for coherent states and squeezed coherent states of Landau levels are calculated. Coherent states of Landau levels are interpreted as a result of a magnetic flux moved adiabatically from infinity to a finite place on the plane. The Abelian Berry phase for coherent states of Landau levels is an analog of the Aharonov-Bohm effect. Moreover, the non-Abelian Berry phase is calculated for the adiabatic evolution of the magnetic field $B$.

Coherent states in the presence of a variable magnetic field

Marius Măntoiu, Radu Purice, Serge Richard

We introduce magnetic coherent states for a particle in a variable magnetic field. They provide a pure state quantization of the phase space R^{2N} endowed with a magnetic symplectic form.

The monopole, pure gauge and Born - Oppenheimer equation

Yue-lin Shen

The modified Born - Oppenheimer equation arising from Berry's phase is studied extensively in two physical systems. One is the spin- neutral particle in the spherically symmetric magnetic field, the other is the electron in the cylindrically symmetric magnetic field. The results show the significant topological effects in simple quantum systems.
