Generation and purification of maximally entangled atomic states in optical cavities

Abstract

We present a probabilistic scheme for generating and purifying maximally entangled states of two atoms inside an optical cavity via no-photon detection at the cavity output, where ideal detectors are not required. The intermediate mixed states can be continuously purified so as to violate Bell inequalities in a parametrized manner. The scheme relies on an additional strong-driving field that realizes, atypically, simultaneous Jaynes-Cummings and anti-Jaynes-Cummings interactions.

Generation of maximally entangled mixed states of two atoms via on-resonance asymmetric atom-cavity couplings

Shangbin Li

A scheme for generating the maximally entangled mixed state of two atoms on-resonance asymmetrically coupled to a single mode optical cavity field is presented. The part frontier of both maximally entangled mixed states and maximal Bell violating mixed states can be approximately reached by the evolving reduced density matrix of two atoms if the ratio of coupling strengths of two atoms is appropriately controlled. It is also shown that exchange symmetry of global maximal concurrence is broken if and only if coupling strength ratio lies between $\frac{\sqrt{3}}{3}$ and $\sqrt{3}$ for the case of one-particle excitation and asymmetric coupling, while this partial symmetry breaking cannot be verified by detecting maximal Bell violation.

Maximally entangled mixed states of two atoms trapped inside an optical cavity

Shangbin Li, Jing‐Bo Xu

In some off-resonant cases, the reduced density matrix of two atoms symmetrically coupled with an optical cavity can very approximately approach maximally entangled mixed states or maximal Bell violation mixed states in their evolution. The influence of a phase decoherence on the generation of a maximally entangled mixed state is also discussed.

Generation of multipartite entangled states by cavity QED

Zhang Ying-Jie, Ren Ting-Qi, Yun‐Jie Xia

We propose the methods of generating multipartite entanglement by considering the interaction of a system of N two-level atoms in M cavities of high quality factor with a strong classical driving field. It is shown that, with the cavity detuning, the applied driving field detuning and vacuum Rabi coupling, we can produce an entangled coherent state in two single-mode cavities and generate the entangled coherent cluster states in two bimodal vacuum cavities. Tuning these parameters also allows us to acquire the anti-Jaynes–Cummings (AJC) interaction, with which we can generate the maximally two-photon entangled states, and the two-atom and the two-photon entangled cluster states.

Scheme for Generating a Two-atom Entangled State via Cavity Decay

Lihua Zhang

The author presents a quantum scheme for generation of a two-atomic entangled state via cavity decay. When two single-photon detectors only detect one photon, which leaks out from the two cavities simultaneously, two distant atoms will be created into a pair of maximally entangled state with a certain probability.

Entanglement Purification Through Cavity Input-Output Process

Xiaolong Zhang, Feng Mang, Gao Ke-Lin

We propose a scheme to purify entanglement of two atoms from not-too-impure entangled states by checking the parity of the two atoms through the cavity input-output process. As the parity check is made by measurement on single-photon polarization, which would not affect the entanglement of the two atoms, our scheme has the successful probability double of that in a previous well-known scheme with linear optical elements [Nature (London) 410 (2001) 1067], and is insensitive to the photon loss and the detection inefficiency. Experimental feasibility of our scheme with current technology is discussed.

Scheme for Generation of Maximally Entangled States via Entanglement Swapping

Wu Zhen-Zhen, Mao-Fa Fang, Chunlei Jiang

Based on two atoms and two cavities initially in two pairs of atom-photon nonmaximally entangled states, we propose a relatively simple scheme to create maximally entangled photon-photon and atom-photon states via entanglement swapping using techniques of cavity QED inspired by the scheme proposed in [Phys. Rev. A 71 (2005) 044302] and [Phys. Rev. A 71 (2005) 034312]. Our scheme does not involve the measurement in Bell basis, we only require detecting the states of atoms.
