Quasideterministic Generation of Entangled Atoms in a Cavity

Abstract

We present a scheme to generate a maximally entangled state of two three-level atoms in a cavity. The success or failure of the generation of the desired entangled state can be determined by detecting the polarization of the photon leaking out of the cavity. With the use of an automatic feedback, the success probability of the scheme can be made to approach unity.

Generation of entangled states of two atoms inside a leaky cavity

T. W. Chen, C. K. Law, P. T. Leung

An in-depth theoretical study is carried out to examine the quasideterministic entanglement of two atoms inside a leaky cavity. Two $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type three-level atoms, initially in their ground states, may become maximally entangled through the interaction with a single photon. By working out an exact analytic solution, we show that the probability of success depends crucially on the spectral function of the injected photon. With a cavity photon, one can generate a maximally entangled state with a certain probability that is always less than $50%.$ However, for an injected photon with a narrower spectral width, this probability can be significantly increased. In particular, we discover situations in which entanglement can be achieved in a single trial with an almost unit probability.

Scheme for Generating a Two-atom Entangled State via Cavity Decay

Lihua Zhang

The author presents a quantum scheme for generation of a two-atomic entangled state via cavity decay. When two single-photon detectors only detect one photon, which leaks out from the two cavities simultaneously, two distant atoms will be created into a pair of maximally entangled state with a certain probability.

Scheme for Generation of Entanglement among Bimodal Cavities

Song Xin-Guo, Feng Xun-Li

We present a scheme for generation of an entangled state in many spatially separated bimodal cavity modes via cavity quantum electrodynamics. A V-type three-level atom, initially prepared in a coherent superposition of its excited states, successively passes through both the bimodal cavities. If the atom is measured in its ground state after leaving the last cavity, an entangled state of many cavity modes can be generated. The conditions to generate the maximally entangled state with unity probability are worked out.

A Cavity-QED Scheme for Generating Long-Lived Maximally Entangled States

Shao-Hua Xiang, Shao Bin, Kehui Song +1 more

We propose a potentially practical scheme to generate two-atom maximally entangled states by the large-detuning interaction between two three-level Λ-type atoms and coherent optical fields. Conditioned on the results of detecting cavity field, four pairs of atomic maximally entangled states with unity fidelity and high successful probability can be prepared. We also investigate the influence of the cavity dissipation on the generated entangled states and discuss the experimental feasibility of our scheme.

Generation of Three-Dimensional Entangled States for Two Atoms Trapped in Different Cavities

Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme for generating three-dimensional entangled states for two atoms trapped in two separate cavities. The scheme is based on the detection of photons leaking from the cavities after the atom-cavity interaction. The scheme is useful for the test of quantum nonlocality and quantum information processing.
