Abstract

Green function and linear integrals of motion for a charged particle moving in electric field are discussed. Wigner function and tomogram of the ststionary states of the charge are obtained. Connection of quantum propagators for Schrodinger evolution equation, Moyal evolution equation and evolution equation in tomographic probability representation for charge moving in electric field is discussed.

Quantum Oscillator at Temperature T and the Evolution of a Charged-Particle State in the Electric Field in the Probability Representation of Quantum Mechanics

Margarita A. Man’ko, Vladimir I. Man’ko

A short review constructing the probability representation of quantum mechanics is given, and examples of the probability distributions describing the states of quantum oscillator at temperature T and the evolution of quantum states of a charged particle moving in the electric field of an electrical capacitor are considered. Explicit forms of time-dependent integrals of motion, linear in the position and momentum, are used to obtain varying probability distributions describing the evolving states of the charged particle. Entropies corresponding to the probability distributions of initial coherent states of the charged particle are discussed. The relation of the Feynman path integral to the probability representation of quantum mechanics is established.

Wigner function and the probability representation of quantum states

Margarita A. Man’ko, Vladimir I. Man’ko

The relation of theWigner function with the fair probability distribution called tomographic distribution or quantum tomogram associated with the quantum state is reviewed. The connection of the tomographic picture of quantum mechanics with the integral Radon transform of the Wigner quasidistribution is discussed. The Wigner–Moyal equation for the Wigner function is presented in the form of kinetic equation for the tomographic probability distribution both in quantum mechanics and in the classical limit of the Liouville equation. The calculation of moments of physical observables in terms of integrals with the state tomographic probability distributions is constructed having a standard form of averaging in the probability theory. New uncertainty relations for the position and momentum are written in terms of optical tomograms suitable for directexperimental check. Some recent experiments on checking the uncertainty relations including the entropic uncertainty relations are discussed.

Feynman Path Integral and Landau Density Matrix in Probability Representation of Quantum States

Olga V. Man’ko

The quantizer–dequantizer method is employed. Using the construction of probability distributions describing density operators of a quantum system states, the connection between the Feynman path integral and the time evolution of the density operator (Landau density matrix) as well as the wave function of the stateconsidered. For single–mode systems with continuous variables, a tomographic propagator is introduced in the probability representation of quantum mechanics. An explicit expression for the probability in terms of the Green function of the Schrödinger equation is obtained. Equations for the Green functions defined by arbitrary integrals of motion are derived. Examples of probability distributions describing the evolution of state of a free particle, as well as states of systems with integrals of motion that depend on time (oscillator type) are discussed.

Tomographic probability representation in the problem of transitions between Landau levels

E D Zhebrak

The problem of moving of a charged particle in electromagnetic field is considered in terms of tomographic probability representation. The coherent and Fock states of a charge moving in varying homogeneous magnetic field are studied in the tomographic probability representation of quantum mechanics. The states are expressed in terms of quantum tomograms. The Fock state tomograms are given in the form of probability distributions described by multivariable Hermite polynomials with time-dependent arguments. The obtained results are generalized in the present work and are applied to determining the transition probabilities between Landau levels. Transition probabilities are calculated using the symplectic tomograms instead of the wave functions. The same method is used in obtaining the transition probabilities between the Landau levels possessed by a charge moving in varying electromagnetic field.

Vladimir I. Man’ko, E. D. Zhebrak

The coherent and Fock states of a charge moving in varying homogeneous magnetic field are studied in the tomographic probability representation of quantum mechanics. The states are expressed in terms of quantum tomograms. The coherent states tomograms are shown to be described by normal distributions with varying dispersions and means. The Fock state tomograms are given in the form of probability distributions described by multivariable Hermite polynomials with time-dependent arguments.

Probability representation of quantum evolution and energy level equations for optical tomograms

Ya. A. Korennoy, Vladimir I. Man’ko

The von Neumann evolution equation for density matrix and the Moyal equation for the Wigner function are mapped onto evolution equation for optical tomogram of quantum state. The connection with known evolution equation for symplectic tomogram of the quantum state is clarified. The stationary states corresponding to quantum energy levels are associated with the probability representation of the von Neumann and Moyal equations written for the optical tomograms. Classical Liouville equation for optical tomogram is obtained. Example of parametric oscillator is considered in detail.
