Abstract An optimal universal cloning transformation is derived that produces M copies of an unknown qubit from a pair of orthogonal qubits. For M>6, the corresponding cloning fidelity is higher than that of the optimal copying of a pair of identical qubits.

Optimal real state cloning in d dimensions

Wen‐Hai Zhang, Tao Wu, Liu Ye +1 more

We present an explicit transformation of optimal asymmetric $1\ensuremath{\rightarrow}2$ real state cloning in two dimensions. Interestingly, the distribution of the two fidelities of the cloning is the same as its counterpart in optimal asymmetric phase-covariant cloning. We also generalize the cloner to the $d$-dimensional case and derive the explicit transformation of the optimal symmetric $1\ensuremath{\rightarrow}2$ real state cloning in the $d$-dimensional system. The maximal fidelity of two clones obtained coincides with the theoretical value [P. Vavez and N. J. Cerf, Phys. Rev. A 68, 032313 (2003)].

OPTIMAL ANTI-CLONING FOR REAL STATE

LI-HUA ZHANG, Bing Shi, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

We present two optimal quantum anti-cloning machines for real state in two dimensions, i.e., input state lying in the x–z equator. The first anti-cloning machine produces two outputs which are orthogonal to the input, and the second one produces two anti-parallel outputs for a single input state. The optimal fidelities are also derived.

Quantum cloning of orthogonal qubits

Jaromı́r Fiurášek, S. Iblisdir, Serge Massar +1 more

An optimal universal cloning transformation is derived that produces M copies of an unknown qubit from a pair of orthogonal qubits. For $M>6,$ the corresponding cloning fidelity is higher than that of the optimal copying of a pair of identical qubits. It is shown that this cloning transformation can be implemented probabilistically via parametric down conversion by feeding the signal and idler modes of a nonlinear crystal with orthogonally polarized photons.

OPTIMAL STATE ESTIMATION AND CLONING FOR EQUATORIAL QUANTUM SYSTEMS WITH ARBITRARY DIMENSION

Chiara Macchiavello

We review the problem of optimal estimation of multiple phases for systems with arbitrary finite dimension and derive the optimal estimation fidelity for equatorial states. We present optimal phase covariant cloning transformations for d-dimensional systems, relating these results to the optimal estimation procedure.
