Abstract

This paper presents properties of the so-called quasi-Bell states: entangled states written as superpositions of nonorthogonal states. It is shown that a special class of those states, namely entangled coherent states, are more robust against decoherence due to photon absorption than the standard bi-photon Bell states.

Nonclassical properties and entanglement of superposition of two-mode separable nonlinear coherent states

Davood Afshar, Azam Anbaraki

Quasi Bell states are introduced as a result of superposition of two-mode separable nonlinear coherent states. In this paper, we consider the nonlinearity function related to the harmonious states. To evaluate the effectiveness of these states in quantum information theory, nonclassical properties such as photon statistics, squeezing, and entanglement are studied. The entanglement of these states is examined by calculating the concurrence. According to our calculations, three of the introduced states are maximally entangled states. In addition, the cross-correlation function of the three maximally entangled states is less than 1 for all values of |α|2.

Entanglement Dynamics of Photon-Added Quasi-Bell Coherent States

Mounaim Hamdoune, Mohammed Daoud A

Abstract Photon-added coherent states (PACS) represent a critical bridge between classical coherent states and quantum Fock states, exhibiting non-classical properties such as squeezing and sub-Poissonian statistics. In this work, we investigate the entanglement properties of quasi-Bell states constructed from photon-added coherent states, with a focus on the concurrence and entanglement of formation under varying photon excitation numbers m and coherent state amplitudes |α|. By leveraging the mathematical framework of Glauber’s coherent states and Laguerre polynomial normalization, we derive analytical expressions for the overlap between |α, m⟩ and | − α, m⟩, and analyze their suitability for qubit encoding. Our results reveal that for |α| ≥ 2, these states approximate orthogonal logical qubits, while smaller amplitudes exhibit m-dependent entanglement degradation. Numerical simulations demonstrate that entanglement of formation E12 approaches unity for large |α|, independent of m, but diminishes with increasing m in the weak-field regime (|α|2 < 1.5). These findings advance the understanding of photon-added states in quantum information protocols, offering insights into decoherence mitigation and resource-efficient qubit design.

The generalized pair coherent states and the corresponding entangled coherent states

Won Sang Chung

In this paper, we consider the generalized Schrödinger cat states. Using these states, we obtain the corresponding quasi-Bell states and the reduced density operator. For these quasi-Bell states, we investigate the non-classical effects such as oscillatory photon statistics, sub-Poissonian property and violation of the Cauchy–Schwarz inequality.

Maximal Entanglement of Nonorthogonal States: Classification

Hong‐Chen Fu, Xiaoguang Wang, A. I. Solomon

A necessary and sufficient condition for the maximal entanglement of bipartite nonorthogonal pure states is found. The condition is applied to the maximal entanglement of coherent states. Some new classes of maximally entangled coherent states are explicited constructed; their limits give rise to maximally entangled Belllike states. 1

Entanglement of coherent states and decoherence*

Radim Filip, Jaroslav Řeháček, Miloslav Dušek

The possibility of producing entangled superpositions of strong coherent states is discussed. A recent proposal by Howell and Yeazell (2000 Phys. Rev. A 62 012102) of a device that entangles two strong coherent states is modified. It is shown that the modified scheme can generate non-classical states that violate Bell inequality. Moreover, a detailed analysis of the effect of losses and decoherence on the degree of entanglement is accomplished. It reveals the high sensitivity of the device to any disturbances and the fragility of generated states.

Entanglement of macroscopic Bell states

T. Sh. Iskhakov, Bhaskar Kanseri, Georgy O. Rytikov +2 more

In this work we focus our attention on the correlation properties of a new class of bright nonclassical states of light, which are called the macroscopic Bell states [1,2]. These states are of interest in quantum optics due to their rarely combined two properties: brightness and quantumness. Recently we have investigated the polarization properties of these states, namely we have shown that the macroscopic singlet state is absolutely unpolarized and free of polarization noise [2], while the triplet states reveal the effect of hidden polarization [3]. Now we experimentally prove that both singlet and triplet macroscopic Bell states are entangled.
