q-deformed Hermite polynomials in q-quantum mechanics

Ralf Hinterding, Julius Wess, Sektion Physik Der Ludwig-maximilians-universität +1 more

The q-special functions appear naturally in q-deformed quantum mechanics and both sides profit from this fact. Here we study the relation between the q-deformed harmonic oscillator and the q-Hermite polynomials. We discuss: recursion formula, generating function, Christoffel-Darboux identity, orthogonality relations and the moment functional. 1 1

Exploring the Harmonic Oscillator Wave Functions

Theresa Julia Zielinski

The goal of this document is to have students explore the solutions to the quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator Schrödinger equation by examining the exponential component, generating the various Hermite polynomials, and then creating the final HO wave functions as a product of a normalization factor, the exponential component, and a Hermite polynomial.

q deformations of the oscillator

R. J. Finkelstein

Generating functions that interpolate between the generating functions for Hermitian multilinears and the corresponding Grassmann multilinears are considered. The new functions that arise in this way may be related to state functions of q-deformed harmonic oscillators.

The statistical distribution function of the q-deformed harmonic oscillator

Mo‐Lin Ge, Gang Su

By using the double-time Green function technique, the authors derive explicitly the exact statistical distribution function of the q-deformed harmonic oscillator, and find that it is highly different from the usual Bose and Fermi functions for q not=1.

Generating function for the product of the associated Laguerre and Hermite polynomials

Istok P. Mendaš

The generating function for the product of the associated Laguerre and Hermite polynomials is formulated and used to determine the coordinate-space wave function of the displaced number states of the harmonic oscillator for the general case of a complex displacement parameter. The benefits, in this context, of an extended form of the associated Laguerre polynomials are advertised.
