Abstract

We apply a 3-dimensional approach to describe a new parametrization of the L-operators for the 2-dimensional Bazhanov-Stroganov (BS) integrable spin model related to the chiral Potts model. This parametrization is based on the solution of the associated classical discrete integrable system. Using a 3-dimensional vertex satisfying a modified tetrahedron equation, we construct an operator which generalizes the BS quantum intertwining matrix S. This operator describes the isospectral deformations of the integrable BS model.

The Yang-Baxter Equation for the Chiral Potts Model and Integrable Parafermions

Zhao Zhang

A new type of Yang-Baxter equation (YBE) for $R$-operators depending on three spectral parameters is constructed from the star-triangle relation for the chiral Potts model. As the $Z_N$ symmetric generalization to the Ising model, its Boltzmann weights are known to depend on two variables describing a curve with genus larger than one for $N>2$, except for the self-dual point corresponding to the Fateev-Zamolodchikov chain. Combined with the fact that quantum Hamiltonians of edge-type models such as the Ising model contain both nearest-neighbor interaction and onsite potential terms, this leads naturally to an additional spectral parameter in the associated $R$-operator. The construction extends the edge-vertex correspondence of solvable lattice models, and provides a bridge between the Bazhanov-Stroganov four-parameter $R$-matrix---realized as an intertwiner of cyclic representations of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ at a root of unity---and Shastry's two-parameter $R$-operator obtained from the decorated YBE.

Three-Dimensional Vertex Model Related BCC Model in Statistical Mechanics

Hu Zhanning

In this paper, a three-dimensional vertex model is obtained. It is a duality of the three-dimensional integrable lattice model with N states proposed by Boos, Mangazeev, Sergeev and Stroganov. The Boltzmann weight of the model is dependent on four spin variables, which are the linear combinations of the spins on the corner sites of the cube, and obeys the modified vertex-type tetrahedron equation. This vertex model can be regarded as a deformation of the one related to the three-dimensional Baxter–Bazhanov model. The constrained conditions of the spectrums are discussed in detail and the symmetry properties of weight functions of the vertex model are presented.

Chiral Potts model and the discrete Sine-Gordon model at roots of unity

Vladimir V. Bazhanov

<!-- *** Custom HTML *** --> The discrete quantum Sine-Gordon model at roots of unity remarkably combines a classical integrable system with an integrable quantum spin system, whose parameters obey classical equations of motion. We show that the fundamental $R$-matrix of the model (which satisfies a difference property Yang–Baxter equation) naturally splits into a product of a singular "classical" part and a finite dimensional quantum part. The classical part of the $R$-matrix itself satisfies the quantum Yang–Baxter equation, and therefore can be factored out producing, however, a certain "twist" of the quantum part. We show that the resulting equation exactly coincides with the star-triangle relation of the $N$-state chiral Potts model. The associated spin model on the whole lattice is, in fact, more general than the chiral Potts and reduces to the latter only for the simplest (constant) classical background. In a general case the model is inhomogeneous: its Boltzmann weights are determined by non-trivial background solutions of the equations of motion of the classical discrete sine-Gordon model.

THE MODIFIED TETRAHEDRON EQUATION AND ITS SOLUTIONS

G. VON GEHLEN, S. PAKULIAK, S. SERGEEV

A large class of 3-dimensional integrable lattice spin models is constructed. The starting point is an invertible canonical mapping operator [Formula: see text] in the space of a triple Weyl algebra. [Formula: see text] is derived postulating a current branching principle together with a Baxter Z-invariance. The tetrahedron equation for [Formula: see text] follows without further calculation. If the Weyl parameter is taken to be a root of unity, [Formula: see text] decomposes into a matrix conjugation operator R1,2,3 and a c-number functional mapping [Formula: see text]. The operator R1,2,3 satisfies a modified tetrahedron equation (MTE) in which the "rapidities" are solutions of a classical integrable Hirota-type equations. R1,2,3 can be represented in terms of the Bazhanov-Baxter Fermat curve cyclic functions, or alternatively in terms of Gauss functions. The paper summarizes several recent publications on the subject.

The Baxter–Bazhanov–Stroganov model: separation of variables and the Baxter equation

G von Gehlen, N. Z. Iorgov, S Pakuliak +1 more

The Baxter-Bazhanov-Stroganov model (also known as the τ^(2) model) has attracted much interest because it provides a tool for solving the integrable chiral Z_N-Potts model. It can be formulated as a face spin model or via cyclic L-operators. Using the latter formulation and the Sklyanin-Kharchev-Lebedev approach, we give the explicit derivation of the eigenvectors of the component B_n(λ) of the monodromy matrix for the fully inhomogeneous chain of finite length. For the periodic chain we obtain the Baxter T-Q-equations via separation of variables. The functional relations for the transfer matrices of the τ^(2) model guarantee non-trivial solutions to the Baxter equations. For the N=2 case, which is free fermion point of a generalized Ising model, the Baxter equations are solved explicitly.
