Abstract

We study a large class of models with an arbitrary (finite) number of degrees of freedom, described by Hamiltonians which are polynomial in bosonic creation and annihilation operators, and including as particular cases n th harmonic generation and photon cascades. For each model, we construct a complete set of commuting integrals of motion of the Hamiltonian, fully characterize the common eigenspaces of the integrals of motion and show that the action of the Hamiltonian on these common eigenspaces can be represented by a quasi-exactly solvable reduced Hamiltonian, whose expression in terms of the usual generators of 𝔰𝔩 2 is computed explicitly.

Quasi-exactly solvable quartic Bose Hamiltonians

Dolya, S N, О. Б. Заславский

We consider Hamiltonians, which are even polynomials of the forth order with the respect to Bose operators. We find subspaces, preserved by the action of Hamiltonian These subspaces, being finite-dimensional, include, nonetheless, states with an \\QTR{it}{infinite} number of quasi-particles, corresponding to the original Bose operators. The basis functions look rather simple in the coherent state representation and are expressed in terms of the degenerate hypergeometric function with respect to the complex variable labeling the representation. In some particular degenerate cases they turn (up to the power factor) into the trigonometric or hyperbolic functions, Bessel functions or combinations of the exponent and Hermit polynomials. We find explicitly the relationship between coefficients at different powers of Bose operators that ensure quasi-exact solvability of Hamiltonian.

Spectra of Photon Down Conversion

Jan Smotlacha, Goce Chadzitaskos, C. Daskaloyannis +5 more

We demonstrate that quasi‐exactly solvable models of quantum mechanics can be used in nonlinear optical processes for a down conversion or second‐harmonic generation processes. After the reduction we use the Turbiner and Bender ‐Dunne polynomial approach. The eigenvalues of Hamiltonian for low number of photons are calculated and the approximation formula is found out.

Quasi-exactly solvable deformations of quantum systems associated with exceptional orthogonal polynomials

Siyu Li, Ian Marquette, Sarah Post +1 more

Quasi-exactly solvable (QES) deformations of harmonic and singular oscillators have been widely studied via a range of approaches. In this paper, we obtain families of new QES deformations of solvable quantum systems associated with exceptional orthogonal polynomials (EOPs). The construction builds upon the theory of Darboux-Crum transformations and the classification of exactly solvable quantum systems associated with EOPs of Hermite type. It is shown that the deformations break the exact solvability of the undeformed systems and introduce model parameters into the deformed systems that permit the existence of a finite number of polynomial solutions whose roots satisfy systems of algebraic equations. The new families presented and studied consist of deformations of quantum systems related to Hermite EOPs of type III with arbitrary codimensions. We present polynomial and rational deformations and analyze, in each case, the conditions for quasi-exact solvability in terms of Bethe ansatz equations and parameter constraints. In general, the structures of the underlying polynomial solutions are no longer associated with well-known classical orthogonal polynomials. So for the general cases, we mainly focus on presenting the new approach as well as the Bethe ansatz equations and the constraints for model parameters. As applications, we construct particular families of QES deformations related to solvable models allowing one, two, and up to four gaps, and obtain the closed form expressions for their wavefunctions and spectra. We analyze the existence of QES solutions in the spaces of model parameters, providing information on the number of solutions for given parameters.

Exact solution for a class of quantum models of interacting bosons

V. S. Shchesnovich

Abstract Quantum models of interacting bosons have a wide range of applications, including the propagation of optical modes in nonlinear media, such as the k-photon down-conversion. Many of these models are related to nonlinear deformations of finite group algebras and, in this sense, are exactly solvable. While advanced group-theoretic methods were developed to study the eigenvalue spectrum, in quantum optics, the primary focus is not on the spectrum of the Hamiltonian but rather on the evolution of an initial state—such as the generation of optical signal modes by a strong pump mode propagating through a nonlinear medium. I propose a simple and general method to solve the state evolution problem, applicable to a broad class of quantum models of interacting bosons. For the k-photon down-conversion model and its generalizations, the solution to the state evolution problem is expressed as an infinite series expansion in powers of the propagation time, with coefficients determined by a recursion relation involving only a single polynomial function. This polynomial function is unique to each nonlinear model. As an application, I compare the exact solution of the parametric down-conversion process with the semiclassical parametric approximation.

Classical and quantum quadratic Hamiltonians

Philip Broadbridge

This thesis is concerned with the properties of dynamical systems with Hamiltonians which are general quadratic combinations of classical or quantum canonical variables or of Boson or Fermion annihilation and creation operators.Chapter I, consisting of six sections, deals mainly with sets of canonical forms for quadratic Hamiltonians under the action of the group of linear canonical transformations.By viewing the group of C.C.R.Bogoliubov transformations as Sp(2tf, i?) , a full set of canonical Boson Hamiltonians, labelled by the invariants for symplectic conjugacy classes, is obtained.Since the conjugacy class of a real orthogonal matrix is determined by its eigenvalues, there is only one type of canonical form for quadratic Fermion Hamiltonians.Unlike the Fermion case, indefinite Boson Hamiltonians can not in general be reduced to a sum of quasi-particle number operators. However, it is shown how spectral theory in Krein space rigorizes the full reduction of a strictly positive quadratic Boson Hamiltonian for which the single particle space is infinite dimensional. In the case of infinite degrees of freedom, there are various existence criteria for a unitary operator which implements a given Bogoliubov transformation and the equivalence of these is discussed in Section 6.Cahpter II, consisting of seven sections, applies the techniques of Chapter I to algebraic quantization. The Boson commutation relations , among formal mode operators obtained in heuristic quantization, are shown to be incompatible with the canonical commutation relations among conjugate variables unless the motion is stable.Segal quantization of any real

New Fundamental Symmetries of Integrable Systems and Partial Bethe Ansatz

A. G. Ushveridze

We introduce a new concept of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras. The quantum quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras being simple but non-trivial deformations of ordinary algebras of monodromy matrices realize a new type of quantum dynamical symmetries and find an unexpected and remarkable applications in quantum inverse scattering method (QISM). We show that applying to quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras the standard procedure of QISM one obtains new wide classes of quantum models which, being integrable (i.e. having enough number of commuting integrals of motion) are only quasi-exactly solvable (i.e. admit an algebraic Bethe ansatz solution for arbitrarily large but limited parts of the spectrum). These quasi-exactly solvable models naturally arise as deformations of known exactly solvable ones. A general theory of such deformations is proposed. The correspondence ``Yangian --- quasi-Yangian'' and ``$XXX$ spin models --- quasi-$XXX$ spin models'' is discussed in detail. We also construct the classical conterparts of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras and show that they naturally lead to new classes of classical integrable models. We conjecture that these models are quasi-exactly solvable in the sense of classical inverse scattering method, i.e. admit only partial construction of action-angle variables.
