In the present paper detailed coordinate free description of the classical and quantum dynamics of free particle on SU(2) group manifold is carried out.
For description of the quantum dynamics on a curved group manifold the path integrals in a space of the group parameters is offered. The formalism is illustrated by the H-atom problem.
The purpose of this article is to present a detailed analysis on the quantum mechnical level of the canonical transformation between coordinate-momentum and number-phase descriptions for systems possessing an sl (2,R) dynamical algebra, specifically, the radial harmonic oscillator and pseudo-Coulomb systems. The former one includes the attractive and repulsive oscillators and the free particle, each with an additional ’’centrifugal’’ force, while the latter includes the bound, free and threshold states with an added ’’centrifugal’’ force. This is implemented as a unitary mapping—canonical transform—between the usual Hilbert space ℒ2 of quantum mechanics and a new set of Hilbert spaces on the circle whose coordinate has the meaning of a phase variable. Moreover, the UIR’s D+k of the universal covering group of SL (2,R) realized on the former space are mapped unitarily onto the latter.
Abstract A free particle may be characterized abstractly in terms of its invariance group. Both the Hamilton-Jacobi and Schrödinger equations for classical and quantum free particles are invariant under the same group, the Schrödinger group. The aim of this paper is to discuss possible restrictions on non-linear generalizations of quantum mechanics. The basic idea is to search for those non-linear generalization of quantum mechanics for which a description of the non-relativistic free particle includes a representation of the Schrödinger group, as in classical and quantum mechanics. This condition imposes strong constraints on possible models of free particles. To carry out such an investigation it is necessary to select an appropriate mathematical formalism, one which can describe physical systems of non-relativistic particles and allows for the incorporation of non-linearities in a natural way. Here the formalism of ensembles on configuration space is used, which is an approach that is capable of describing both classical and quantum systems and, in addition, allows for more general theories that describe mixed classical-quantum systems. Modifications of the equations involving derivatives of up to fourth order are considered
Abstract A group is an algebraic structure equipped with binary associative multiplication, identity element and inverse operation with respect to identity. Lie group is a smooth manifold with group multiplication and the inverse being smooth functions. Therefore as one chooses manifold coordinate charts, various parametrizations of multiplication and inverse operations arise. Recently, the simple probability representation of qubit states and observables and an associated triangle geometrical picture called ‘quantum suprematism’ were introduced. At its core lies the representation of the Bloch sphere by correlated dichotomic probability distribution. The aim of the present paper is the introduction of probability parametrization of two classical compact and non-compact Lie groups, SU(2) and SU(1,1) respectively.
