Multilevel 2-D Quantum Wavelet Transforms

Hai-Sheng Li, Ping Fan, Huiling Peng +2 more

Wavelet transform is being widely used in classical image processing. One-dimension quantum wavelet transforms (QWTs) have been proposed. Generalizations of the 1-D QWT into multilevel and multidimension have been investigated but restricted to the quantum wavelet packet transform (QWPTs), which is the direct product of 1-D QWPTs, and there is no transform between the packets in different dimensions. A 2-D QWT is vital for image processing. We construct the multilevel 2-D QWT's general theory. Explicitly, we built multilevel 2-D Haar QWT and the multilevel Daubechies D4 QWT, respectively. We have given the complete quantum circuits for these wavelet transforms, using both noniterative and iterative methods. Compared to the 1-D QWT and wavelet packet transform, the multilevel 2-D QWT involves the entanglement between components in different degrees. Complexity analysis reveals that the proposed transforms offer exponential speedup over their classical counterparts. Also, the proposed wavelet transforms are used to realize quantum image compression. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed wavelet transforms are significant and obtain the same results as their classical counterparts with an exponential speedup.

Quantum Weighted Fractional-Order Transform

Tieyu Zhao, Yingying Chi

Quantum Fourier transform (QFT) transformation plays a very important role in the design of many quantum algorithms. Fractional Fourier transform (FRFT), as an extension of the Fourier transform, is particularly important due to the design of its quantum algorithm. In this paper, a new reformulation of the weighted fractional Fourier transform (WFRFT) is proposed in order to realize quantum FRFT; however, we found that this reformulation can be applied to other transformations, and therefore, this paper presents the weighted fractional Hartley transform (WFRHT). For the universality of application, we further propose a general weighted fractional-order transform (WFRT). When designing the quantum circuits, we realized the quantum WFRFT via QFT and quantum phase estimation (QPE). Moreover, after extending our design to the WFRHT, we were able to formulate the quantum WFRHT. Finally, in accordance with the research results, we designed the quantum circuit of the general WFRT, and subsequently proposed the quantum WFRT. The research in this paper has great value as a reference for the design and application of quantum algorithms.

Realization of quantum Fourier transform overZN

Xiang-Qun Fu, Wan‐Su Bao, Fa-Da Li +1 more

Since the difficulty in preparing the equal superposition state of amplitude is 1/√ N , we construct a quantile transform of quantum Fourier transform (QFT) over Z N based on the elementary transforms, such as Hadamard transform and Pauli transform. The QFT over Z N can then be realized by the quantile transform, and used to further design its quantum circuit and analyze the requirements for the quantum register and quantum gates. However, the transform needs considerable quantum computational resources and it is difficult to construct a high-dimensional quantum register. Hence, we investigate the design of t -bit quantile transform, and introduce the definition of t -bit semiclassical QFT over Z N . According to probability amplitude, we prove that the transform can be used to realize QFT over Z N and further design its quantum circuit. For this transform, the requirements for the quantum register, the one-qubit gate, and two-qubit gate reduce obviously when compared with those for the QFT over Z N .
