QUASI-EXACT SOLVABILITY IN LOCAL FIELD THEORY

A. G. USHVERIDZE

Published Mar 14, 1998• 1 citation
arXivHTMLPDF

Abstract

The quantum mechanical concept of quasi-exact solvability is based on the idea of partial algebraizability of spectral problem. This concept cannot be used directly on the systems with infinte number of degrees of freedom. For such systems a new concept based on the partial Bethe ansatz solvability is proposed. In this letter we demonstrate the constructivity of this concept and formulate a simple method for building quasi-exactly solvable field theoretical models on a one-dimensional lattice. The method automatically leads to local models described by Hermitian Hamiltonians.

New quasi-exactly solvable systems from SUSYQM and Bethe Ansatz

Siyu Li, Ian Marquette, Yao-Zhong Zhang

We give a systematic construction of new quasi-exactly solvable systems via Bethe ansatz and supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM). Methods based on the intertwining of supercharges have been extensively used in the literature for exactly solvable systems. We generalize the state-deleting (Krein-Adler) supersymmetric transformations to quasi-exactly exactly solvable (QES) systems building on the Bethe ansatz method and related Bethe roots. This enables us to construct superpartners for a wide class of known QES systems classified previously through a hidden $sl(2)$ algebra. We present our constructions of factorizations and intertwining relations related to 1st-order SUSYQM and the $n=1$ state for 10 nonequivalent types, denoted I,...,X. In order to have a unified treatment we rely on their ODE standard form as this is also the appropriate setting to obtain the Bethe ansatz equations which constrain the polynomial solutions. This setting also allows one to deal with systems with $n$ states in a unified manner, using analysis based on the Bethe ansatz equations to build the supersymmetric transformations in terms of the Bethe ansatz roots. We derive the Schrödinger potentials for the $n=1$ superpartners of the 10 QES cases and give closed-form solutions for the spectra and wavefunctions of the corresponding QES SUSYQM systems. Furthermore, we present numerical results for higher excited states up to the $n=10$ level. The results obtained may have wider applicability as our framework is built on ODEs with polynomial coefficients.

The Universal Algebraic Structure of Exactly Solvable Quantum Systems

Revista, Zen, PHYSICS, 10

Exactly solvable quantum systems represent a fascinating and critically important class of models in theoretical physics, offering exact solutions to non-trivial problems that often shed light on the behavior of more complex, intractable systems. The remarkable feature of these systems lies not only in their solvability but also in the underlying mathematical structures that facilitate such solutions. This paper explores the concept of a universal algebraic structure that underpins exactly solvable quantum systems. We delve into how diverse models, ranging from one-dimensional spin chains to many-body systems and field theories, exhibit common algebraic symmetries, such as Lie algebras, affine Lie algebras, and quantum groups. These algebraic frameworks provide a unified language for understanding integrability, the existence of an infinite number of conserved quantities, and the ability to construct exact eigenstates. We review the historical development of these ideas, from the Bethe ansatz to the development of the inverse scattering method and quantum groups. Our discussion highlights how these mathematical structures are not merely tools for calculation but fundamental descriptors of the physical reality of these systems, offering profound insights into non-perturbative quantum phenomena. The identification of a universal algebraic architecture suggests a deeper coherence in the landscape of quantum mechanics, paving the way for new discoveries and classifications of quantum models.

New Fundamental Symmetries of Integrable Systems and Partial Bethe Ansatz

A. G. Ushveridze

We introduce a new concept of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras. The quantum quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras being simple but non-trivial deformations of ordinary algebras of monodromy matrices realize a new type of quantum dynamical symmetries and find an unexpected and remarkable applications in quantum inverse scattering method (QISM). We show that applying to quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras the standard procedure of QISM one obtains new wide classes of quantum models which, being integrable (i.e. having enough number of commuting integrals of motion) are only quasi-exactly solvable (i.e. admit an algebraic Bethe ansatz solution for arbitrarily large but limited parts of the spectrum). These quasi-exactly solvable models naturally arise as deformations of known exactly solvable ones. A general theory of such deformations is proposed. The correspondence ``Yangian --- quasi-Yangian'' and ``$XXX$ spin models --- quasi-$XXX$ spin models'' is discussed in detail. We also construct the classical conterparts of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras and show that they naturally lead to new classes of classical integrable models. We conjecture that these models are quasi-exactly solvable in the sense of classical inverse scattering method, i.e. admit only partial construction of action-angle variables.

Quasi-exactly solvable models derived from the quasi-Gaudin algebra

Yuan-Harng Lee, Jon Links, Yao-Zhong Zhang

The quasi-Gaudin algebra was introduced to construct integrable systems which are only quasi-exactly solvable. Using a suitable representation of the quasi-Gaudin algebra, we obtain a class of bosonic models which exhibit this curious property. These models have the notable feature that they do not preserve U(1) symmetry, which is typically associated to a non-conservation of particle number. An exact solution for the eigenvalues within the quasi-exactly solvable sector is obtained via the algebraic Bethe ansatz formalism.

Quasi-exact solvability of the one-dimensional Holstein model

Feng Pan, L. R. Dai, Jerry Paul Draayer

The one-dimensional Holstein model of spinless fermions interacting with dispersionless phonons is solved by using a Bethe ansatz in analogue to that for the one-dimensional spinless Fermi–Hubbard model. Excitation energies and the corresponding wavefunctions of the model are determined by a set of partial differential equations. It is shown that the model is, at least, quasi-exactly solvable for the two-site case, when the phonon frequency, the electron–phonon coupling strength and the hopping integral satisfy certain relations. As examples, some quasi-exact solutions of the model for the two-site case are derived.
