Abstract

We present a classical integrable model of $SU(N)$ isospin defined on complex projective phase space in the external magnetic field and solve it exactly by constructing the action-angle variables for the system. We quantize the system using the coherent state path integral method and obtain an exact expression for quantum mechanical propagator by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equations.

ACTION ANGLE VARIABLES FOR COMPLEX PROJECTIVE SPACE AND SEMICLASSICAL EXACTNESS

Phillial Oh, Myungho Kim

We construct the action angle variables of a classical integrable model defined on complex projective phase space and calculate the quantum mechanical propagator in the coherent state path integral representation using the stationary phase approximation. We show that the resulting expression for the propagator coincides with the exact propagator which was obtained by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation.

Coherent states in complex variables and classical dynamics

Yousef Yousefi, Х. Х. Муминов

It was studied coherent states in complex variables in SU(2), SU(3), SU(4) groups and in general in SU(n) group. Using the completeness relation of the coherent state, we obtain a path integral expression for transition amplitude which connects a pair of SU(n) coherent states. In the classical limit, a canonical equation of motion is obtained.

Canonical Quantization of Noncompact Spin System

Phillial Oh

We consider spin system defined on the coadjoint orbit with noncompact symmetry and investigate the quantization. Classical spin with noncompact SU ( N , 1) symmetry is first formulated as a dynamical system and the constraint analysis is performed to reduce the system from the group space to the coadjoint orbit which is a symplectic manifold with Kähler structure. We achieve this by solving the constraint directly. It is shown that the dynamical variables describing the noncompact spins can be written as functions of canonically conjugate variables and canonical quantization is possible on the reduced phase space. With the quantum mechanical Hamiltonian acting on the holomorphic coherent state in Hilbert space, we obtain the exact propagator by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation.

Path integral approach to the time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian and coherent states

Jing‐Bo Xu, Ji-Ming Bao, Xiao-Chun Gao

The exact propagator and invariant for the time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian is found by a generalized canonical transformation and a path integral method. We then proceed to construct the coherent states for the system by making use of the propagator. The coherent states for the damped harmonic oscillator and variable mass or frequency harmonic oscillator are the special cases of the coherent states for the system studied in this paper.

Coherent state path integral for the interaction of spin with external magnetic fields

Tahar Boudjedaa, Abdelhafid Bounames, Khireddine Nouicer +2 more

Linear canonical transformation and time transformation are used within the formalism of path integrals in coherent state representation to solve the problem of an interacting spin with arbitrary time-dependent external magnetic fields. The Factorization technique is used to solve the equation of motion. Examples of the calculation of the transition probability in terms of elementary functions and special functions for solvable systems are presented. For completeness Berry's phase is also derived under adiabatic expansion.

Semiclassical dynamics of a spin-½ in an arbitrary magnetic field

Adrian Alscher, Hermann Grabert

The spin coherent state path integral describing the dynamics of a spin-½ system in a magnetic field of arbitrary time dependence is considered. Defining the path integral as the limit of a Wiener regularized expression, the semiclassical approximation leads to a continuous minimal action path with jumps at the endpoints. The resulting semiclassical propagator is shown to coincide with the exact quantum mechanical propagator. A nonlinear transformation of the angle variables allows for a determination of the semiclassical path and the jumps without solving a boundary-value problem. The semiclassical spin dynamics is thus readily amenable to numerical methods.
