Photon statistics of multimode even and odd coherent light

Abstract

The even and odd coherent states are generalized for the multimode case. The explicit forms for the photon distribution, Q function, and Wigner function are derived. In particular, it is shown that for the two-mode case there exist strong correlations between these modes, under certain conditions, which are responsible for two-mode squeezing in the case of even coherent states.

Even and odd coherent states (Schrödinger cat states) for multimode parametric systems

Dodonov, Vladimir I. Man’ko, Dmitri E. Nikonov

The multimode even and odd coherent states (multimode Schroedinger cat states) are constructed for polymode parametric oscillators of the electromagnetic field. The evolution of the photon distribution function is evaluated explicitly. The distribution function is expressed in terms of the multivariable Hermite polynomials, its means and dispersions are calculated. The conditions for the existence of squeezing are formulated. The correlations among the different modes of Schroedinger cat states are studied.

Schrödinger cat states of a non-stationary generalized oscillator*

Octavio Castaños, Ramón López–Peña, Vladimir I. Man’ko

The two-mode even and odd coherent Schrödinger cat states are introduced for the generalized stationary and non-stationary harmonic oscillator. The expected values of positions and momenta and their dispersion matrices are calculated for the Schrödinger cat states. The quadrature squeezing and correlation phenomenon are studied and the Wigner and Husimi functions are constructed explicitly for these states. The photon statistics of the two-mode even and odd coherent states of the generalized oscillator is described in terms of the photon distribution function, which is expressed in terms of Hermite polynomials. The photon number, means and dispersions show oscillations which are characteristics of squeezing and correlation phenomenon.

Quantum Properties of Two-Mode Squeezed Even and Odd Coherent States

Jing Zhang, Wei Wu, Meng Shao-ying

Two new types of quantum states are constructed by applying the operator s (ξ) = exp (ξ* ab −ξ a † b † ) on the two-mode even and odd coherent states. The mathematical and quantum statistical properties of such states are investigated. Various nonclassical features of these states, such as squeezing properties, the inter-mode photon bunching, and the violation of Cauchy–Schwarz inequality, are discussed. The Wigner function in these states are studied in detail.
