BETHE ANSATZ AND QUANTUM GROUPS

Abstract

The formulation and resolution of integrable lattice statistical models in a quantum group covariant way is the subject of this review. The Bethe Ansatz turns to be remarkably useful to implement quantum group symmetries and to provide quantum group representations even when $q$ is a root of unity. We start by solving the six-vertex model with fixed boundary conditions (FBC) that guarantee exact $SU(2)_q$ invariance on the lattice. The algebra of the Yang-Baxter (YB) and $SU(2)_q$ generators turns to close. The infinite spectral parameter limit of the YB generators yields {\bf cleanly} the $SU(2)_q$ generators. The Bethe Ansatz states constructed for FBC are shown to be {\bf highest weights} of $SU(2)_q$. The higher level Bethe Ansatz equations (BAE, describing the physical excitations) are explicitly derived for FBC. We then solve the RSOS($p$) models on the light--cone lattice with fixed boundary conditions by disentangling the type II representations of $SU(2)_q$, at $q=e^{iπ/p}$, from the full SOS spectrum obtained through Algebraic Bethe Ansatz. The RSOS states are those with quantum spin $J

The Yang-Baxter algebras (YBA) are introduced in a general framework stressing their power to exactly solve the lattice models associated to them. The algebraic Bethe Ansatz is developed as an eigenvector construction based on the YBA. The six-vertex model solution is given explicitly. The generalization of YB algebras to face language is considered. The algebraic BA for the SOS model of Andrews, Baxter and Forrester is described using these face YB algebras. It is explained how these lattice models yield both solvable massive QFT and conformal models in appropiated scaling (continuous) limits within the lattice light-cone approach. This approach permit to define and solve rigorously massive QFT as an appropiate continuum limit of gapless vertex models. The deep links between the YBA and Lie algebras are analyzed including the quantum groups that underly the trigonometric/hyperbolic YBA. Braid and quantum groups are derived from trigonometric/hyperbolic YBA in the limit of infinite spectral parameter. To conclude, some recent developments in the domain of integrable theories are summarized.

YANG-BAXTER ALGEBRAS, INTEGRABLE THEORIES AND QUANTUM GROUPS

Hector J. de Vega

The Yang-Baxter-Zamolodchikov-Faddeev (YBZF) algebras and their many applications are the subject of this reivew. I start by the solvable lattice statistical models constructed from YBZF algebras. All two-dimensional integrable vertex models follow in this way and are solvable via Bethe Ansatz (BA) and their generalizations. The six-vertex model solution and its q(2q−1) vertex generalization including its nested BA construction are exposed. YBZF algebras and their associated physical models are classified in terms of simple Lie algebras. It is shown how these lattice models yield both solvable massive quantum field theories (QFT) and conformal models in appropriated scaling (continuous) limits within the lattice light-cone approach. The method of finite-size calculations from the BA is described as well as its applications to derive the conformal properties of integrable lattice models. It is conjectured that all integrable QFT and conformal models follow in a scaling limit from these YBZF algebras. A discussion on braid and quantum groups concludes this review.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Quantum Groups and Integrable Models

P. P. Kulish

The solution of the Heisenberg model ( XXX -spin chain) is reviewed to define main ingredients of the quantum inverse scattering method. The spectrum and eigenfunctions are constructed by the algebraic Bethe Ansatz. A dynamical symmetry algebra is identified with a quantum group —the sl (2) Yangian. The Yang-Baxter equation and its GL ( n )-invariant solutions ( R -matrices) are discussed. Integral equations describing the Heisenberg model in the limit of an infinite chain are given. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.

INTEGRABLE QUANTUM CHAIN AND THE REPRESENTATION OF QUANTUM GROUP SUq(2)

Bo-Yu Hou, Shi Kang-Jie, YANG ZHONG-XIA +2 more

We discuss the XXZ spin chain with certain boundary term and the representation of quantum group SUq(2). It is shown that Bethe Ansatz states are highest weight states of SUq(2), with q arbitrary We construct the irreducible representation of the quantum group. For q a rational root of unity, we show that there are new solutions to the BA equations, We derived the state vectors | b′> by taking certain limit, from which we construct the type I and type Ⅱ representations of SUq(2).
