Teleportation of quantum states

Abstract

The recent result of Bennett et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 70, 1895 (1993)] of teleportation of an unknown quantum state is obtained in the framework of nonlocal measurements proposed by Aharonov and Albert [Phys. Rev. D 21, 3316 (1980); 24, 359 (1981)]. The latter method is generalized to the teleportation of a quantum state of a system with continuous variables.

Teleported State and its Fidelity in Quantum Teleportation of Continuous Variables

When given an unknown quantum state which may be either a pure or a mixed state in the coherent state representation, we show that explicit expressions for the teleported state and its fidelity in the teleportation process (S. L. Braunstein and H. J. Kimble 1998 Phys. Rev. Lett. 80 869) can be obtained without explicit expansions for the two-mode squeezed vacuum state and the Bell basis in a specified representation.

Reversible quantum operations and their application to teleportation

Michael A. Nielsen, Carlton M. Caves

Quantum operations provide a general description of the state changes allowed by quantum mechanics. Simple necessary and sufficient conditions for an ideal quantum operation to be reversible by a unitary operation are derived in this paper. These results generalize recent work on reversible measurements by Mabuchi and Zoller [Phys. Rev. Lett. 76, 3108 (1996)]. Quantum teleportation can be understood as a special case of the problem of reversing quantum operations. We characterize completely teleportation schemes of the type proposed by Bennett et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 70, 1895 (1993)].

Methods for reliable teleportation

Lev Vaidman A, Nadav Yoran

Recent experimental results and proposals towards implementation of quantum teleportation are discussed. It is proved that reliable (theoretically, 100% probability of success) teleportation cannot be achieved using the methods applied in recent experiments, i.e., without quantum systems interacting with one another. Teleportation proposals involving atoms and electromagnetic cavities are reviewed and the most feasible methods are described. In particular, the language of nonlocal measurements has been applied; this language has also been used for presenting a method for teleportation of quantum states of systems with continuous variables.

Multiparticle Generalization of Teleportation

Chui‐Ping Yang, Guang‐Can Guo

A scheme for teleporting an unknown quantum state of many particles is proposed. The scheme operates essentially by prearranging the sharing of an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-correlated pair of particles every time. We show that after performing a series of Bell-state measurements and single-particle unitary transformations, the unknown state of many particles, which was destroyed at one place, can be reconstructed at another place. Our scheme is actually obtained by generalizing an earlier scheme of Bennett et al. [ Phys. Rev. Lett. 70 (1993) 1895 ; 76 (1996) 722 ] known as quantum teleportation to the multiparticle case.

Comment on “Scheme for teleportation of an unknown atomic state without the Bell-state measurement”

Ravindra W. Chhajlany, Antoni Wójcik

Recently, Ye and Guo [Phys. Rev. A 70, 054303 (2004)] have presented a scheme for implementing quantum teleportation of atomic states in cavity QED. In this Comment, we show that contrary to the authors' claim, the scheme is based on Bell-state measurement.
