REGULARIZED GREEN'S FUNCTION FOR THE INVERSE SQUARE POTENTIAL

Abstract

A Green's function approach is presented for the D-dimensional inverse square potential in quantum mechanics. This approach is implemented by the introduction of hyperspherical coordinates and the use of a real-space regulator in the regularized version of the model. The application of Sturm–Liouville theory yields a closed expression for the radial energy Green's function. Finally, the equivalence with a recent path-integral treatment of the same problem is explicitly shown.

PATH INTEGRAL TREATMENT OF SINGULAR PROBLEMS AND BOUND STATES

Horacio E. Camblong, CARLOS R. ORDÓÑEZ

A path-integral approach for the computation of quantum-mechanical propagators and energy Green's functions is presented. Its effectiveness is demonstrated through its application to singular interactions, with particular emphasis on the inverse square potential — possibly combined with a delta-function interaction. The emergence of these singular potentials as low-energy nonrelativistic limits of quantum field theory is highlighted. Not surprisingly, the analog of ultraviolet regularization is required for the interpretation of these singular problems.

Path integral approach to the Coulomb–Dunkl–Klein–Gordon problem in higher dimensions

H. Benzair, Tahar Boudjedaa, M. Merad +1 more

In this paper, we investigate a central coordinate system within the framework of the Wigner–Dunkl deformation of quantum mechanics in d spatial dimensions, focusing on the dynamics of a relativistic spinless particle described by the Klein–Gordon equation. The analysis is carried out using Feynman’s path integral formalism in hyperspherical coordinates, where the Lagrangian includes an effective potential depending explicitly only on radial variables. This approach allows for the exact separation of variables in d-dimensional Dunkl space, enabling an analytical evaluation of the path integral. Particular emphasis is placed on the attractive Coulomb-type potential, for which the exact propagator is obtained in closed form. As a result, we derive the energy spectrum and corresponding wave functions of the Dunkl–Klein–Gordon system, expressed in terms of special functions that reflect the modified symmetries induced by the Dunkl operators.

Path integral formulation in the central potential of Wigner-Dunkl quantum mechanics

H. Benzair, Tahar Boudjedaa, M. Merad

Abstract A central coordinate system is investigated within the framework of the Wigner-Dunkl deformation of quantum mechanics, treated using Feynman’s path integral approach. This approach involves performing path integration of a Lagrangian in polar coordinates, with an effective potential term that depends on both radial and angular coordinates. The success in separating variables within the two-dimensional Dunkl system facilitated obtaining exact expressions for the propagators associated with the free particle, inverse square potential, harmonic oscillator, and Coulomb potential. The energy eigenvalues and their corresponding wave functions are also determined.

Green's functions for the rapid computation of nonrelativistic wave functions

Douglas W. McColm, Glen W. Erickson

A multiparticle Green's function satisfying an extended form of the Schr\"odinger equation is obtained as a function of the hyperspherical radius in the multidimensional coordinate space. This Green's function is designed for application to quantum-mechanical bound-state problems. Use of the quadratic Fourier-Laplace transform of this function is proposed as a means of simplifying the computational process. A computational formalism employing this transform is developed.

Path integral treatment of a Klein Gordon particle with generalized inverse Quadratic Yukawa potential

Salah Eddine Aid, Hocine Boukabcha, Mohamed Hemis

Abstract We solved the Klein–Gordon equation for a generalized inverse quadratic Yukawa (GIQY) potential via path integrals approach. We applied approximations to deal with the terms 1/r 2 and 1/r. A path integral representation of Green’s function relating to a particle moving in a mixture of equal vector and scalar potentials was established. To integrate Green’s function, a space-time transformation was successfully used, and the present problem was reduced to a previously known modified Pöschl-Teller potential problem. The integrated Green’s function contains important information about the considered system, from which we obtained energy eigenvalues and the corresponding normalized eigenfunctions for various values of n and ℓquantum numbers. Numerical results, Schrödinger solutions, and special cases such as the modified screened Coulomb plus inversely quadratic Yukawa potential, Kratzer potential, Yukawa potential, and Coulomb potential were also considered. These results are largely consistent with previous studies.

Green function for an axially symmetric potential field: a path integral evaluation in polar coordinates

M. Victoria Carpio-Bernido

An explicit evaluation of the path integral in spherical polar coordinates for the Green function of a particle moving in an axially symmetric potential field is presented. A closed form of the Green function is obtained from which the energy eigenvalues and the normalized eigenfunctions are obtained as the poles and the residues at the poles, respectively.
