Conserved charges of non-Yangian type for the Frahm-Polychronakos spin chain

Abstract

Through an ℏ-expansion of the confined Calogero model with spin exchange interactions, we extract a generating function for the involutive conserved charges of the Frahm-Polychronakos spin chain. The resulting conservation laws possess the spin chain Yangian symmetry, although they are not expressible in terms of these Yangians.

Yangian symmetry of long-range \mathfrak {g}\mathfrak {l}(N) integrable spin chains

Niklas Beisert, Denis Erkal

An interesting type of spin chain has appeared in the context of the planar AdS/CFT correspondence: it is based on an integrable nearest-neighbor spin chain, and it is perturbatively deformed by long-range interactions which apparently preserve the integrable structure. Similar models can be constructed by demanding the existence of merely one conserved local charge. Although the latter is not a sufficient integrability condition in general, the models often display convincing signs of full integrability. Here we consider a class of long-range spin chains with spins transforming in the fundamental representation of . For the most general such model with one conserved local charge we construct a conserved Yangian generator and show that it obeys the Serre relations. We thus provide a formal proof of integrability for this class of models.

Rational quantum integrable systems of DN type with polarized spin reversal operators

B. Basu-Mallick, C. Datta, Federico Finkel +1 more

We study the spin Calogero model of DN type with polarized spin reversal operators, as well as its associated spin chain of Haldane–Shastry type, both in the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic cases. We compute the spectrum and the partition function of the former model in closed form, from which we derive an exact formula for the chain's partition function in terms of products of partition functions of Polychronakos–Frahm spin chains of type A. Using a recursion relation for the latter partition functions that we derive in the paper, we are able to numerically evaluate the partition function, and thus the spectrum, of the DN-type spin chain for relatively high values of the number of spins N. We analyze several global properties of the chain's spectrum, such as the asymptotic level density, the distribution of consecutive spacings of the unfolded spectrum, and the average degeneracy. In particular, our results suggest that this chain is invariant under a suitable Yangian group, and that its spectrum coincides with that of a Yangian-invariant vertex model with linear energy function and dispersion relation.

The structure of conserved charges in open spin chains

Marek Grabowski, Pierre Mathieu

We study the local conserved charges in integrable spin chains of the XYZ type with non-trivial boundary conditions. The general structure of these charges consists of a bulk part, whose density is identical to that of a periodic chain, and a boundary part. In contrast with the periodic case, only charges corresponding to interactions of even number of spins exist for the open chain. Hence, there are half as many charges in the open case as in the closed case. For the open spin- XY chain, we derive the explicit expressions of all the charges. For the open spin- XXX chain, several lowest-order charges are presented and a general method of obtaining the boundary terms is indicated. In contrast with the closed case, the XXX charges cannot be described in terms of a Catalan tree pattern.

Bethe Ansatz inside Calogero-Sutherland models

Gwenaël Ferrando, Jules Lamers, Fedor Levkovich-Maslyuk +1 more

We study the trigonometric quantum spin-Calogero-Sutherland model, and the Haldane-Shastry spin chain as a special case, using a Bethe-ansatz analysis. We harness the model's Yangian symmetry to import the standard tools of integrability for Heisenberg spin chains into the world of integrable long-range models with spins. From the transfer matrix with a diagonal twist we construct Heisenberg-style symmetries (Bethe algebra) that refine the usual hierarchy of commuting Hamiltonians (quantum determinant) of the spin-Calogero-Sutherland model. We compute the first few of these new conserved charges explicitly, and diagonalise them by Bethe ansatz inside each irreducible Yangian representation. This yields a new eigenbasis for the spin-Calogero-Sutherland model that generalises the Yangian Gelfand-Tsetlin basis of Takemura-Uglov. The Bethe-ansatz analysis involves non-generic values of the inhomogeneities. Our review of the inhomogeneous Heisenberg XXX chain, with special attention to how the Bethe ansatz works in the presence of fusion, may be of independent interest.
