Correlations within the non-equilibrium Green’s function method

Mojtaba Mahzoon, Paweł Danielewicz, Arnau Rios

Non-equilibrium Green’s Function (NGF) method is a powerful tool for studying the evolution of quantum many-body systems. Different types of correlations can be systematically incorporated within the formalism. The time evolution of the single-particle Green’s functions is described in terms of the Kadanoff-Baym equations. The current work initially focuses on introducing the correlations within infinite nuclear matter in one dimension and then in a finite system in the NGF approach. Starting from the harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian, by switching on adiabatically the mean-field and correlations simultaneously, a correlated state with ground-state characteristics is arrived at within the NGF method. Furthermore the use of cooling to for improving the adiabatic switching is explored.

Renormalization out of equilibrium in a superrenormalizable theory

Mathias Garny, Urko Reinosa

We discuss the renormalization of the initial value problem in nonequilibrium quantum field theory within a simple, yet instructive, example and show how to obtain a renormalized time evolution for the two-point functions of a scalar field and its conjugate momentum at all times. The scheme we propose is applicable to systems that are initially far from equilibrium and compatible with nonsecular approximation schemes which capture thermalization. It is based on Kadanoff-Baym equations for non-Gaussian initial states, complemented by usual vacuum counterterms. We explicitly demonstrate how various cutoff-dependent effects peculiar to nonequilibrium systems, including time-dependent divergences or initial-time singularities, are avoided by taking an initial non-Gaussian three-point vacuum correlation into account.

Non-Equilibrium Critical Dynamics of Ferromagnets with Long Range Correlated Defects

Д. Н. Куликов, Pavel Vladimirovich Prudnikov

The simultaneous effect of non-equilibrium initial states and correlation betweendefects of the structure on the evolution of anisotropic disordered systems at the critical pointwas analyzed. The field theory description of the non-equilibrium critical behavior of three-dimensional disordered systems with the long-range correlated defects was given and the dy-namical critical exponent of the short-time evolution was calculated in the two-loop approxima-tion without the use of the "-expansion. The values of the dynamical critical exponent obtainedby using various methods for summing asymptotic series were compared with the results ofthe computer simulation of the non-equilibrium critical behavior of the three-dimensional dis-ordered Ising model in the short-time regime.
