Abstract

The paper contains the real-time perturbation theory for description of a statistical system with the nonuniform temperature distribution. the formalism based on the Wigner-functions approach. The perturbation theory is formulated in terms of the local-temperature Green functions.

Finite-temperature T matrix in a real-time formalism

V. Canivell, L. Garrido, Maxi San Miguel +1 more

A generalized off-shell unitarity relation for the two-body scattering $T$ matrix in a many-body medium at finite temperature is derived, through a consistent real-time perturbation expansion by means of Feynman diagrams. We comment on perturbation schemes at finite temperature in connection with an erroneous formulation of the Dyson equation in a paper recently published.

Perturbation expansion of closed-time-path Green’s functions

Hong-Hua Xu, Chien-hua Tsai

The incoming interaction picture is introduced in accordance with the adiabatic hypothesis. A generalized Wick's theorem and, accordingly, a real-time formalism of perturbation theory at finite temperatures are constructed for the closed-time-path Green's functions. This new approach is illustrated in terms of the simple case of an electron-phonon system.

A hierarchy of equations for finite temperature Green functions

Colin John Lambert

Abstract Employing a new theorem on time ordered products of operators, an infinite hierarchy of equations for the finite temperature Green functions of a many particle system is obtained. The analysis provides a basis for the extension to finite temperatures of recent results from ground state perturbation theory. The connection between the present analysis and the corresponding ground state formalism is briefly discussed.

PERTURBATION-THEORY RULES FOR COMPUTING THE SELF-ENERGY OPERATOR IN QUANTUM STATISTICAL MECHANICS

Gordon Baym, Andrew M. Sessler

Convenient rules are given for the general term in the time-independent perturbation-theory expansion for the self-energy operator of quantum statistical mechanics. The rules are derived by starting from the usual formalism involving time-dependent Green's functions.
