Abstract

We give an overview of numerical and experimental estimates of critical exponents in Spin Glasses. We find that the evidence for a breakdown of universality of exponents in these systems is very strong.

Dynamic Simulations and Critical Exponents in Spin Glasses

L. Bernardi, Ian A. Campbell

We have used dynamic simulations to estimate certain critical exponents for spin glasses with ± J and Gaussian near-neighbour interactions in dimensions 3 and 4. The two types of system do not appear to be in the same universality class in either dimension.

Critical exponents of spin-galss systems

Ian A. Campbell

The critical exponents at the glass temperature ${T}_{g}$ of a spin glass are estimated by making use of predictions obtained from a phase-space percolation model, in combination with scaling arguments. With this hypothesis, the whole set of exponents for a given system, including the dynamic exponent, can be expressed simply in terms of a single nonuniversal parameter. The model is checked against data from simulations and from three sets of experiments; agreement is very satisfactory.

Ising spin glasses: Corrections to finite size scaling, freezing temperatures, and critical exponents

Pierre‐Olivier Mari, Ian A. Campbell

We compare simulation data from different sources on two canonical three-dimensional Ising spin glasses (ISGs): the binomial $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}J$ near-neighbor interaction ISG and the Gaussian interaction ISG. We allow for the possibility of corrections to finite size scaling and estimate the correction exponent w. Consistent estimates for the critical temperatures ${T}_{g}$ and for the critical exponents for each system are obtained. The data strongly indicate that critical exponents in the two systems are significantly different from each other. These results thus confirm a breakdown of standard universality rules in Ising spin glasses.

Ordering Temperatures and Critical Exponents in Ising Spin Glasses

L. Bernardi, Sona Prakash, Ian A. Campbell

We propose a numerical criterion which can be used to obtain accurate and reliable values of the ordering temperatures and critical exponents of spin glasses. Using this method we find a value of the ordering temperature for the $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}J$ Ising spin glass in three dimensions which is definitely nonzero and in good agreement with previous estimates. We show that the critical exponents of three-dimensional Ising spin glasses do not obey the usual universality rules.
