Single-particle Green’s functions of the Calogero-Sutherland model at couplings λ=1/2, 1, and 2

Abstract

At coupling strengths \ensuremath{\lambda}=1/2, 1, or 2, the Calogero-Sutherland model (CSM) is related to Brownian motion in a Wigner-Dyson random matrix ensemble with orthogonal, unitary, or symplectic symmetry. Using this relation in conjunction with superanalytic techniques developed in mesoscopic conductor physics, we derive an exact integral representation for the CSM two-particle Green's function in the thermodynamic limit. Simple closed expressions for the single-particle Green's functions are extracted by separation of points. For the advanced part, where a particle is added to the ground state and later removed, a sum of two contributions is found: the expected one, with just one particle excitation present, plus an extra term arising from fractionalization of the single particle into a number of elementary particle and hole excitations.

Correlation functions of the BC Calogero Sutherland model

Shinsuke M. Nishigaki, Dimitri M. Gangardt, Alex Kamenev

The BC-type Calogero–Sutherland model (CSM) is an integrable extension of the ordinary A-type CSM that possesses a reflection symmetry point. The BC-CSM is related to the chiral classes of random matrix ensembles (RMEs) in exactly the same way as the A-CSM is related to the Dyson classes. We first develop the fermionic replica σ-model formalism suitable to treat all chiral RMEs. By exploiting ‘generalized colour–flavour transformation’ we then extend the method to find the exact asymptotics of the BC-CSM density profile. Consistency of our result with the c = 1 Gaussian conformal field theory description is verified. The emerging Friedel oscillations structure and sum rules are discussed in details. We also compute the distribution of the particle nearest to the reflection point.

Particle propagator of the spin Calogero–Sutherland model

Ryota Nakai, Yusuke Kato

Explicit-exact expressions for the particle propagator of the spin 1/2 Calogero–Sutherland model are derived for the system of a finite number of particles and for that in the thermodynamic limit. Derivation of the expression in the thermodynamic limit is also presented in detail. Combining this result with the hole propagator obtained in earlier studies, we calculate the spectral function of the single particle Green's function in the full range of the energy and momentum space. The resultant spectral function exhibits power-law singularity characteristic to correlated particle systems in one dimension.

Derivation of Green's function of a spin Calogero–Sutherland model by Uglov's method

Ryota Nakai, Yusuke S. Kato

The hole propagator of a spin 1/2 Calogero–Sutherland model is derived using Uglov's method, which maps the exact eigenfunctions of the model, called the Yangian Gelfand-Zetlin basis, to a limit of Macdonald polynomials (gl 2 -Jack polynomials). To apply this mapping method to the calculation of 1-particle Green's function, we confirm that the sum of the field annihilation operator ψ ↑ + ψ ↓ on a Yangian Gelfand-Zetlin basis is transformed to the field annihilation operator ψ on gl 2 -Jack polynomials by the mapping. The resultant expression for the hole propagator for a finite-size system is written in terms of renormalized momenta and spin of quasi-holes, and the expression in the thermodynamic limit coincides with the earlier result derived by another method. We also discuss the singularity of the spectral function for a specific coupling parameter where the hole propagator of the spin Calogero–Sutherland model becomes equivalent to the dynamical colour correlation function of an SU (3) Haldane–Shastry model.

A Quantum Many-body Problem in Two Dimensions: Ground State

Avinash Khare, Koushik Ray

We obtain the exact ground state for the Calogero-Sutherland problem in arbitrary dimensions. In the special case of two dimensions, we show that the problem is connected to the random matrix problem for complex matrices, provided the strength of the inverse-square interaction g = 2. In the thermodynamic limit, we obtain the ground state energy and the pair-correlation function and show that in this case there is no long-range order. Calogero-Sutherland type models are a class of exactly solvable models. Starting from the inception [1], till today, these models continue to be of interest, especially due to their exact solvability [2]. Moreover, these models are related to (1 + 1)-dimensional conformal field theory, random matrices and a host of other things [3]. Some variants of the models have attracted attention in very recent past [3–5]. The original model of Calogero [1] described N particles in one dimension, interacting through an inverse square law and a two-body harmonic interaction. The latter interaction was added to the effect of complete discretization of the spectrum. This model gave in to an analytic treatment yielding an exact solution. Sutherland [6] considered a variant of this problem where the harmonic interaction was replaced by a harmonic well containing the N particles. It was shown that one can exactly solve for the ground state of the system. The norm of the ground state wave-function was shown to be of a form that coincides with the joint probability density function of the eigenvalues of random matrices from an orthogonal, unitary or symplectic Gaussian ensemble, provided, the

Exact Dynamical Correlation Functions of Calogero-Sutherland Model and One-Dimensional Fractional Statistics

Zou Ha

One-dimensional model of nonrelativistic particles with inverse-square interaction potential known as the Calogero-Sutherland model is shown to possess fractional statistics. Using the theory of Jack polynomials the exact dynamical density-density correlation function and the hole propagator part of one-particle Green's function at any rational interaction coupling constant are obtained and used to show clear evidences of the fractional exclusion statistics in the sense of Haldane's "generalized Pauli exclusion principle." This model is also endowed with the corresponding natural exchange statistics.

A lecture on the Calogero Sutherland models

Vincent Pasquier

INTRODUCTION The Calogero-Sutherland model has recently attracted some attention mainly because, in spite of its simplicity, it yields nontrivial results which contribute to shape our understanding of fractional statistics [1]. Its most remarkable property is that its ground state is given by a Jastrow wave-function which is the one dimensional analogue of the Laughlin wave-function. The excitations are described by quasiparticles which carry a fraction of the quantum numbers of the fundamental particles. The wave functions are simple enough to allow the computation of physical quantities such as the dynamical correlation functions. Recently, it has become clear that the spin version of this model is closely related to the known spin chains such as the XXX chain. The wave functions of the spin models can be obtained as simply as those of the Calogero-Sutherland model by diagonalising simple differential operators known as the Dunkl operators [2]. In these lectures, I restrict to the
