We determine exactly the fixed point Hamiltonian of the one-dimensional multichannel Kondo-Heisenberg lattice model for any number of channels
N> 2. It is found to belong to a new class of non-Fermi-liquid fixed points, different from the usual Luttinger or Luther-Emery liquids. The fixed point describes an anomalous singlet with nontrivial internal dynamics manifesting itself in unconventional order. We compute the correlation functions of the various conventional and composite order parameters of the system, and find that for
N< 4 the composite order parameters induce the dominant instabilities.
We reinvestigate the two channel flavor anisotropic model (2CFAK) and one channel compacitified Kondo model (1CCK). For these two models, all the possible fixed points and their symmetries are identified; the finite size spectra, the electron conductivity and pairing susceptibility are calculated. It is shown that the only non-fermi liquid (NFL) fixed point of the 2CFAK is the NFL of the two channel Kondo model (2CK) with the symmetry
O(3)×O(5). Any flavor anisotropies between the two channels drive the system to the fermi-liquid (FL) fixed point with the symmetry
O(4)×O(4) where one of the two channels suffers the phase shift π/2 and the other remains free. The NFL fixed point of the 1CCK has the symmetry
O(3)×O(1) and has the same thermodynamics as the NFL fixed point of the 2CK. However, in contrast to the 2CK, its conductivity shows
T2 behavior and there is no pairing susceptibility divergence. Any anisotropies between the spin and isospin sectors drive the system to the FL fixed point with the symmetry O(4) where the electrons suffer the phase shift π/2. The connection and differences between the two models are explicitly demonstrated. The recent conjectures and claims on the NFL behaviors of the two models are commented.
Ground-state properties are examined for an extended two-channel Kondo model where the Hilbert space of the localized states is extended to include a singlet state in addition to the doublet states. By means of zero-th order variational wavefunctions with different symmetries, which are associated with the non-Fermi-liquid and the Fermi-liquid ground states, we demonstrate that the channel exchange coupling via the localized singlet state stabilizes the Fermi-liquid wavefunction. The ground-state phase diagrams, which are in qualitative agreement with the previous study performed by Koga and Shiba, are obtained. The comparison to the structure of the resultant wavefunctions suggests that a unique non-Fermi-liquid (Fermi-liquid) fixed point exists, irrespective of the localized ground state.
