The 3d Ising spin glass

Per Nordblad

Experimentally derived physical properties of 3d Ising spin glasses are discussed and compared to what is anticipated from theory and simulations of model systems. It is found that the spin glass experiences a zero-field phase transition to a low-temperature spin-glass phase, that there is no phase transition in a magnetic field and that nonequilibrium and chaos effects often dominate the dynamics of the low-temperature glassy phase. These results are in agreement with findings from Monte Carlo simulations and with properties derived from the droplet model.

Nonequilibrium dynamics and aging in the three-dimensional Ising spin-glass model

H Rieger

The low temperature dynamics of the three-dimensional Ising spin-glass in zero field with a discrete bond distribution is investigated via MC simulations. The thermoremanent magnetization is found to decay algebraically and the temperature dependent exponents agree very well with the experimentally determined values. The nonequilibrium autocorrelation function C(t, t w ) shows a crossover at the waiting (or aging) time t w from algebraic quasiequilibrium decay for times t<<t w to another, faster algebraic decay for t>>t w with an exponent similar to one for the remanent magnetization.

Aging dynamics of the Heisenberg spin glass

Ludovic Berthier, A. P. Young

We numerically study the nonequilibrium dynamics of the three-dimensional Heisenberg Edwards-Anderson spin glass following a sudden quench to its low-temperature phase. The subsequent aging behavior of the system is analyzed in detail, and the scaling behavior of various space-time correlation functions is investigated for both spin and chiral degrees of freedom. We carefully compare our results with those obtained from simulations of the more studied Ising version of the model, and with experiments on real spin glasses in which the spins have vectorial character. Finally, the present dynamical study offers perspectives into the possibility of spin-chirality decoupling at low temperature in vectorial spin glasses.
