Abstract

In this paper it is shown that the family of first-order Lagrangians for the t - J model and the corresponding correlation-generating functional previously found can be exactly mapped into the slave-fermion decoupled representation. Next, by means of the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic method, a different family of Lagrangians is constructed and it is shown how the corresponding correlation-generating functional can be mapped into the slave-boson representation. Finally, in order to define the propagation of fermion modes we discuss two alternative ways to treat the fermionic sector in the path-integral formalism for the t - J model.

FIRST-ORDER LAGRANGIANS AND PATH-INTEGRAL QUANTIZATION IN THE t-J MODEL.

A. Foussats, A. Greco

By using the supersymmetric version of the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism, a family of first-order constrained Lagrangians for the t-J model is found. In this approach the Hubbard ˆ X-operators are used as field variables. In this framework, we first study the spinless fermion model which satisfies the graded algebra spl(1,1). Later on, in order to satisfy the Hubbard ˆ X-operators commutation rules satisfiying the graded algebra spl(2,1), the number and kind of constraints that must be included in a classical first-order Lagrangian formalism for the t-J model are found. This model is also analyzed in the context of the path- integral formalism, and so the correlation generating functional and the effective Lagrangian are constructed.

PERTURBATIVE EXPANSION FOR THE t-J MODEL CONSTRUCTED FROM THE GENERATORS OF THE SUPERSYMMETRIC HUBBARD ALGEBRA

C. Repetto, Oscar P. Zandron

By using the Hubbard [Formula: see text]-operators as field variables along with the supersymmetric version of the Faddeev–Jackiw symplectic formalism, a family of first-order constrained Lagrangians for the t-J model is found. In order to satisfy the Hubbard [Formula: see text]-operator commutation rules satisfying the graded algebra spl(2,1), the number and kind of constraints that must be included in a classical first-order Lagrangian formalism for this model are presented. The model is also analyzed via path-integral formalism, where the correlation-generating functional and the effective Lagrangian are constructed. In this context, the introduction of a proper ghost field is needed to render the model renormalizable. The perturbative Lagrangian formalism is developed and it is shown how propagators and vertices can be renormalized to each order. In particular, the renormalized ferromagnetic magnon propagator arising in the present formalism is discussed. As an example, the thermal softening of the magnon frequency is computed.

Slave fermions, slave bosons, and semions from bosonization of the two-dimensionalt-Jmodel

Jürg Martin Fröhlich, P. A. Marchetti

We extend Abelian and non-Abelian bosonization formulas found in a previous paper, in combination with coherent-state methods, to present a systematic derivation of the slave-fermion, slave-boson, and semion representations of the two-dimensional t-J model in path-integral form. The slave-fermion and slave-boson representations are shown to arise from two different gauge fixing constraints introduced in the path-integral representation of the bosonized t-J model. For each representation we discuss the approximations leading to a mean-field theory. In the mean-field theory based on the semion representation, the holons are shown to be ``Dirac semions.''

An alternative formalism for the slave particle mean field theory of thet–Jmodel without deconfinement

Takao Morinari

An alternative formalism that does not require the assumption of the deconfinement phase of a U(1) gauge field is proposed for the slave particle mean field theory. Starting form the spin-fermion model, a spinon field, which is either fermion or boson, is introduced to represent the localized spin moment. We find a d-wave superconductive state in the mean field theory in the case of the fermion representation of the localized spin moment that corresponds to the slave boson mean field theory of the t-J model, whereas the d-wave superconductive state is absent in case of the Schwinger boson representation of the localized spin moments.

Constraint Quantization of Slave-Particle Theories

Christian Helm, Joachim Keller

We start from the Barnes-Coleman slave-particle description, where the Hubbard operators X are decomposed into a product of fermionic (fα) and bosonic (b) operators. The quantum mechanical constraint b † b+ ∑ α f † αfα = 1 is treated within the framework of Dirac’s method for the quantization of classical constrained systems. This leads to modified algebraic properties of the fundamental operators: bb † b = b, fαf † βfγ = δαβfγ and fαb † = 0. Thereby the algebra of the X-operators is preserved exactly on the operator level. Matrix representations of the above algebra are constructed and a resolvent-like perturbation theory for the single-impurity Anderson model is developed.
