On the cumulant expansion peculiarity for partition function functional of the cluster de Gennes model

N. A. Korynevskii

The problem of the functional representation for cluster de Gennes model \npartition function within the collective variables method is discussed. Contrary to the usual Ising model case the coefficients of the obtained partition function functional (cluster cumulants) depend on temperature T and \ntransverse field Γ . Therefore there exists a rigorous limitation on the value \nof Γ parameter at low temperatures. The equation for maximum value Γl , \ntemperature and short-range intracluster interaction V is obtained. The \nsolutions of this equation have been found.

Cumulant expansion for systems with large spins

K Kladko, P Fulde, D. A Garanin

A method is proposed for obtaining a systematic expansion of thermodynamic functions of spin systems with large spin S in powers of 1/ S . It uses the cumulant technique and a coherent-state representation of the partition function . The expansion of in terms of cumulants yields an effective classical Hamiltonian with temperature-dependent quantum corrections. For the Heisenberg quantum Hamiltonian, they have a non-Heisenberg form. The effective Hamiltonian can be solved by methods familiar for classical systems.
