Abstract

New experiments on neutral K-mesons might turn out to be promising tests of the hypothesis of Complete Positivity in the physics of open quantum systems. In particular, a consistent dynamical description of correlated neutral kaons seems to ask for Comple

Complete positivity and correlated neutral kaons

In relation with experiments on correlated kaons at phi-factories, it is shown that the request of complete positivity is necessary in any physically consistent description of neutral kaons as open quantum systems.

Testing Complete Positivity

Fabio Benatti, Roberto Floreanini B

We study the modified dynamical evolution of the neutral kaon system under the condition of complete positivity. The accuracy of the data from planned future experiments is expected to be sufficiently precise to test such a hypothesis.

Comment on ``Searching for Evolutions of Pure States into Mixed States in the Two-State System K-K''

Fabio Benatti, Roberto Floreanini B

It has been recently proposed to study generic dynamical evolutions of the neutral kaon system that go beyond quantum mechanics. We explicitly show that, unless the condition of complete positivity is enforced, those dynamics are physically inconsistent and should be rejected.
