Abstract

For the general time-dependent linear potential, the exact and complete solution of the Schr?dinger equation was obtained by assuming a form of wave function. Meanwhile, it was pointed out that the matrices φ(t)〉和ψ(t)〉 defined by the two wave functions 〈φ(t)xψ(t)〉和〈φ(t)pψ(t)〉 satisfy classical equations of motion. According to the ensemble theory of quantum mechanics, such classical equations describe the motion of fluid. A further research shows that similar conclusions apply to any linear system.

General Solution and Quantum Phases of the Time-Dependent Linear Potential

Mai-Lin Liang, Zhiguo Zhang, Kai-Sheng Zhong

The exact general solution of the Schrödinger equation for the time-dependent linear potential (TLP) is obtained in momentum representation. The wave functions in coordinate representation are derived from that in momentum representation by the Fourier transform. Meanwhile, the dynamical and geometrical phases for the unbounded states of TLP are calculated.

Exact Wave Function of a Time-Dependent Quantum System

Fan Tian-you

To solve the problem in dispute about a Schrdinger equation with time-depenelent mass and frequency, by means of a simple transformation of variables, the time-dependent Schrdinger equation is transformed into the time-independent one first and then an exact wave function can be found.

Lewis-Riesenfeld approach to the solutions of the Schrödinger equation in the presence of a time-dependent linear potential

Pi‐Gang Luan, Chi‐Shung Tang

We reexamine the general solution of a Schr\"odinger equation in the presence of a time-dependent linear potential in configuration space based on the Lewis-Riesenfeld framework. For comparison, we also solve the problem in momentum space and then Fourier transform the solution to get the general wave function. Appropriately choosing the weight function in the latter method, we can obtain the same wave function as the former method. It is found that a non-Hermitian time-dependent linear invariant can be used to obtain Gaussian-type wave-packet solutions of the time-dependent system. This operator is a specific linear combination of the initial momentum and initial position operators. This fact indicates that the constants of integration such as the initial position and initial momentum that determine the classical motion play important roles in the time-dependent quantum system. The eigenfunction of the linear invariant is interpreted as a wave packet with a ``center of mass'' moving along the classical trajectory, while the ratio between the coefficients of the initial position and initial momentum determines the width of the wave packet.

Complete solutions for a class of time-dependent Dirac equations

Zhiguo Zhang

Using a unitary transformation, the Dirac equation with a time-dependent linear potential is transformed into a Schr?dinger equation for a particle moving in an effective external magnetic field, which can be solved by the Lewis?Riesenfeld invariant theory. The wavefunction is written in a complete form. It is also shown that in the non-relativistic limit, matrix elements of the velocity operator go to the classical velocity when there is an arbitrary external potential and a magnetic field.

Schrödinger Equation and Wave Function

S. Rajasekar, R. Velusamy

During 1925 three different but equivalent versions of quantum theory were proposed, Schrodinger proposed wave mechanics; Heisenberg developed matrix mechanics and Dirac-introduced operator theory. Considering the de Broglie's matter waves Erwin Schrödinger, an Austrian physicist, argued that if a particle like an electron behaves as a wave then the equation of wave motion could be successfully applied to it. He postulated a function varying in both space and time in a wave-like manner. Schrodinger set up a linear and time-dependent wave-like equation, called Schrodinger wave equation, to describe the wave aspect of a particle taking account of de Broglie's relation for wavelength. This chapter discusses the Schrodinger equation and explores the general properties of the solution of the Schrodinger equation. It verifies the Ehrenfest's theorem in certain interesting systems and solves equation for linear harmonic oscillator and shows that their solutions are identical to the solutions of classical equation of motion.
