Abstract

The project "Multi-Photon Entanglement and Quantum Teleportation" concerns a series of experimental and theoretical investigations on multi-photon entangled states and the applications, for example, quantum teleportation. The objective of this research is to probe the foundations of quantum;theory of entanglement and its fundamental roles in quantum computing and quantum information processing. This research will definitely benefit many scientific and engineering discipline applications. This report is for the first year investigation of a long term basic research program. The efforts of the first year research are very important for the achievement of our long term goal. Based on the successful results of the first year research, a novel teleportation experiment which has the ability to provide a true "100% teleportation" shall be conducted in the second year.

Manipulation of Multi-Photon-Entanglement : Applications in Quantum Information Processing

Alexander Goebel

Over the last twenty years the field of quantum information processing (QIP) has attracted the attention of many scientists, due to the promise of impressive improvements in the areas of computational speed, communication security and the ability to simulate nature on the micro scale. This thesis describes an experimental work on the physics of multi-photon entanglement and its application in the field of QIP. We have thoroughly developed the necessary techniques to generate multipartite entanglement between up to six photons. By exploiting the developed six-photon interferometer, in this thesis we report for the first time the experimental quantum teleportation of a two-qubit composite system, the realization of multi-stage entanglement swapping, the implementation of a teleportation-based controlled-NOT gate for fault-tolerant quantum computation, the first generation of entanglement in sixpartite photonic graph states and the realization of ‘one-way’ quantum computation with two-photon four-qubit cluster states. The methods developed in these experiments are of great significance both for exploring the field of QIP and for future experiments on the fundamental tests of quantum mechanics.

The Integration of Quantum Mechanics and Quantum teleportation: Foundations, Applications, and Future Perspectives

Haoting Dou

With the advent of quantum technology, the exploration of quantum teleportation has become increasingly important, and it has provided a glimpse of the potential of quantum information science. The current research delves into the background of quantum teleportation, emphasizing its key role in advancing quantum communication and computation. Implications of this research are that it has the potential to revolutionize data transmission and processing, providing a secure and efficient means of exchanging quantum information. This paper is structured to provide a comprehensive study of quantum teleportation, starting with a literature review that lays the foundation for our work. Afterward, the details of our research are presented, including the theoretical framework and the proposed methodology for realizing the quantum teleportation protocol. We provide a careful overview of the technical details, demonstrating the complexity of quantum state preparation, entanglement distribution, and Bell state measurements. Our empirical section demonstrates the practical application of these protocols, providing empirical evidence of successful teleportation of quantum states. The theoretical predictions are confirmed by the experimental results, which validate the feasibility and reliability of our approach. Conclusions drawn from the experiments emphasize the robustness of quantum teleportation as a viable technology for future quantum networks.

QUANTUM TELEPORTATION: THE CURRENT STATE OF RESEARCH

Alamgir Khan, Jamal Shah

Through the process of quantum teleportation, a transfer of quantum information takes place from one particle to another while maintaining zero physical movement between the two. Quantum teleportation requires two entangled particles along with projective measurements followed by exchanging two bits of classical information. The process requires quantum mechanics principles which combine superposition with entanglement. Quantum entanglement occurs when two or more particles create an inseparable relationship that cuts off a separate description of an individual particle. Experimental realizations of quantum teleportation continue to operate on different physical platforms which include photons as well as atoms and superconducting circuits. Applications of Quantum teleportation includes quantum computing, secure communication, and cryptography. In future Scientists believe that a breakthrough in quantum computing technology could make teleportation a reality, including the ability to teleport a whole human. This paper provides the present research in quantum teleportation, including the theoretical framework, experimental implementations, and potential applications. We also discuss the challenges and limitations of quantum teleportation and propose future directions for research.

The Applications and Challenges of Quantum Teleportation

Tao Liu

Abstract Quantum teleportation plays a crucial role in information science for its property of completely secure transmission. It was first demonstrated as a means of transferring the quantum state. Later, it has been extended greatly in the field of quantum computing, quantum network, and quantum communication and other fields. The first part of this paper will talk briefly about the basic theory of quantum teleportation and the applications that have been achieved in recent years in both commercial and scientific purposes. Next, the results of current experiments and the challenges that should be overcome in the future will be presented. The final section will be a discussion about the development of quantum teleportation and its future implementations.

Quantum manipulation of photons and atoms : the application in quantum information processing

Yu-Ao Chen

Quantum information has been witnessing great science value and latent application since 1980's. The research work presented here consist of mainly two important parts: manipulations of multiphoton entanglement and atomic ensembles based quantum memory. In first part, the experimental technique multi-photon entanglement is further developed to study fundamental issues in quantum mechanics, remarkable applications to quantum communication and quantum computation. Specifically, we have demonstrated a bit-flip error-free transfer of quantum information, violation of Bell's inequality beyond Tsirelson's bound, teleportation of a two-qubit composite system, as well as the one-way computing by two-photon-four-qubit cluster state. To overcome un-scalability problem due to probabilistic feature in linear optical quantum information processing, we investigated in the second part the physics of atomic ensembles based quantum memory. We show that theoretically, entanglement between distant locations can be deterministically generated. The experimental work has thoroughly developed the necessary techniques and we have achieved deterministic single photon source, and interference of the photons from independent atomic ensembles, teleportation between photonic and atomic qubits, a novel way to create a robust entanglement between an atomic and a photonic qubit, and memory based entanglement swapping. We believe, the developed techniques here would dramatically facilitate progresses in many fields including global quantum communication, linear optical quantum computation and the foundations of quantum mechanics etc.
