Golden Ratio Quantum Dimension Enables Universal Braiding, Unlike Ising Anyons — E8 Intelligence Research

Abstract
FINDING: Fibonacci anyons realize the golden ratio as a quantum dimension, with braiding matrices generating a dense (universal) representation of the braid group — unlike Ising anyons, whose quantum dimension √2 yields only Clifford (non-universal) gates. MATH: - Quantum dimensions: d_Fib = φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618; d_Ising = √2 ≈ 1.414. - Fusion rules: Fibonacci: τ⊗τ = 1 ⊕ τ (two channels). Ising: σ⊗σ = 1 ⊕ ψ. - Total quantum dimension: D² = Σ d_i². Fibonacci: D² = 1 + φ² = 1 + 2.618 = 3.618 = φ+2. Ising: D² = 1 + 1 + 2 = 4. - Fibonacci F-matrix (pentagon equation solution): F = [[1/φ, 1/√φ],[1/√φ, −1/φ]], with entries in ℚ(√5). - Braiding R-matrix eigenvalues: R = diag(e^{−4πi/5}, e^{3πi/5}); phases are 4π/5 and 3π/5 — fifth roots of unity, tied to the icosahedral/dodecahedral symmetry group. - Ising braiding: R = e^{−iπ/8} diag(1, i) — eighth roots of unity, tied to the Clifford group / octahedral symmetry. - Binet: F_n = (φⁿ − ψⁿ)/√5, ψ = −1/φ = −0.618. - KZ-equation conformal blocks Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
