Posner Molecule ³¹P Nuclear Spin Entanglement as Neural Quantum Substrate — E8 Intelligence Research

Abstract
FINDING: Matthew Fisher's Posner molecule hypothesis proposes nuclear-spin quantum entanglement (phosphorus-31) as a substrate for neural quantum processing, with decoherence times potentially reaching biologically relevant scales. | MATH: Posner molecule = Ca₉(PO₄)₆ — a calcium phosphate cluster with C₃ᵥ point-group symmetry (trigonal pyramidal). Key quantum numbers: ³¹P nuclear spin I = 1/2; ⁴³Ca spin I = 7/2 (abundant isotope ~0.135%); ⁴⁰Ca, ⁴⁴Ca spin I = 0. Six phosphate groups arranged on a trigonal prism → 6 equivalent ³¹P sites. Entanglement lifetime τ ∝ 1/(dipolar coupling²) — Fisher estimates T₂ ~ 10⁵ s in isolation, reduced to ~1 day in biological milieu. Decoherence rate Γ = (μ₀γ²ℏ)/(4πr³) for dipolar coupling between ³¹P nuclei at separation r ≈ 3.5 Å. | CONNECTION: Posner cluster geometry maps to C₃ᵥ ⊂ O_h symmetry breaking — a trigonal distortion of the octahedral phosphate arrangement. The 6 phosphate groups occupy vertices of a trigonal antiprism (D₃d in idealized form) Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series.
