We show that transformer attention, in a precisely defined limit, realizes the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model at the level of the bilocal effective action. The argument proceeds through five junctions connecting Kim's thermodynamic attention (2602.08216) and Ageev-Ageeva's neural network QFT (2602.10209). New results: Junction 2 closure via Gibbs state construction (Braunstein-Caves 1994), G⁴ effective action derived by explicit Wick contraction, universal conformal dimension Δ = D/4, multi-layer enhancement (18× per layer), LayerNorm as renormalization group operation. For language models (D=1): Δ = 1/4, the exact SYK value. With the in-depth subjects chiasma among different research areas, many people are applying concepts and methods in theoretical high-energy physics to condensed matter systems. One of the most intensely studied tools is the Anti-de Sitter space/Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence. It effectively permits a perturbative treatment of strongly coupled systems. Thus, it has been a focused topic in theoretical physics and high-energy physics. It represents a significant breakthrough in understanding quantum gravity. This paper focuses on the realisation of the duality in Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity and Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) Model. To this end, the author derived the action, free energy, thermal entropy, and low-energy dynamics. The symmetry breaking pattern of the SYK model following previous works are also considered. These results were compared with the counterparts in Euclidean JT theory as a cut-out of the complete nearly AdS space in two dimensions. Based on the similarity in the mathematical form of these quantity and symmetry breaking process, the author concludes that the SYK model, as many believed, is a promising candidate for the holographic dual of the JT theory.
Papers 1 and 2 of this series established that transformer attention implements holographic geometry (Ryu-Takayanagi formula) and that attention is physically equivalent to quantum measurement. Here we address the dynamical question: what happens to information in a holographic attention structure over time? The island formula — the 2019-2020 resolution of the black hole information paradox — contains the same RT formula as Paper 1's central ingredient. Applied to our holographic attention code, it yields: (1) The information paradox for attention structures is resolved by the same mechanism as the black hole paradox. (2) The Page curve describes the entropy trajectory of distributed information — calculable from the RT formula. (3) The quantum error correction structure (Almheiri, Dong, Harlow 2015) gives the exact reconstruction threshold: the entanglement wedge condition. (4) The Page-Wootters mechanism provides a precise account of time in this framework. Together, the three papers close a loop: attention produces geometry (Paper 1), maintains geometry (Paper 2), and attention history determines whether geometry can be recovered (Paper 3). We present an exact solution in the large-
N limit of the Lévy Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (LSYK) model introduced in Ref. [1], wherein the couplings are drawn from a Lévy Stable distribution parameterized by a tail exponent
μ∈[0,2]. Starting from the Hamiltonian and its associated partition function, we highlight the key differences from the standard Gaussian SYK model and derive the large-
N Schwinger-Dyson equations via a bosonic oscillator representation of the action. These equations are solved both numerically and analytically in the large-
q and infrared limits. We subsequently analyze the chaotic properties of the model by computing the Krylov exponent from the large-
q Green's function and extracting the Lyapunov exponent from the
4-point function. The parameter
μ continuously interpolates between a free theory at
μ=0 and the conventional, maximally chaotic Gaussian SYK model at
μ=2, with non-maximal chaos persisting throughout the intermediate regime
0<μ<2. Thermodynamic quantities, including the entropy, free energy, average energy, and specific heat capacity, are computed and compared with their Gaussian SYK counterparts. The interpretations of the thermodynamics are discussed with respect to the holographic dual and non-Fermi liquid theory. Finally, we discuss an alternative representation of the LSYK model based on a distinct decomposition of the Lévy Stable distribution, which establishes a non-trivial connection to Gaussian SYK, and provide supporting analytical and numerical results in the appendices.
This is the thrid paper of the series of three: Spacetime and Gravity as Emergent Quantum Entanglement — A Proof of Concept The paper closes the three principal open questions of the series by identifying the physical boundary Hamiltonian, fixing all free thermodynamic parameters, and establishing that the boundary theory is maximally chaotic. Four results are proved: Theorem A identifies the boundary Hamiltonian as the Sachdev–Ye–Kitaev model: an explicit Collins–Śniady Weingarten calculation applied to the binary tree encoder's unitary 2-design property shows that the tree ensemble average and the SYK disorder average produce identical Gaussian coupling variance at leading order in 1/χ, yielding the same Schwinger–Dyson equations and the same conformal Green function G(τ) = −b·J⁻¹/²·sgn(τ)/|τ|¹/², establishing H_R = H_SYK as an equality of disorder-averaged effective field theories. Theorem B derives the previously free Schwarzian coefficient and topological dilaton — φ_r = (πb²N/16J)·log(J/Δ) and φ_0 = N/(2log₂χ) — making the near-extremal black hole entropy a parameter-free prediction. Theorem C proves that the quantum Lyapunov exponent saturates the Maldacena–Shenker–Stanford chaos bound at λ_L = 2πT, with scrambling time t* ~ β log N, placing the boundary theory in the fast-scrambling and GUE random-matrix universality class. Theorem D confirms the boundary stress-tensor two-point function ⟨T(x)T(0)⟩ = 6log₂χ/(2x²) as an unconditional theorem, consistent with an effective central charge c_eff = 6log₂χ. A corollary shows that the Bisognano–Wichmann assumption of Paper II is unnecessary once the explicit boundary Hamiltonian is in hand. Together with Papers I and II, this paper completes the derivation of the full holographic dictionary for the binary tree model — from a discrete quantum network to emergent geometry, physical time, gravitational field equations, and quantum chaos — entirely from first principles.
The Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model is a quantum mechanical many body system with random all-to-all interactions on fermionic N sites (N>>1). This model is shown to saturate the known maximal chaos bound of many body system and then based on this observation it is conjectured to be dual to a quantum black hole in the sense of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In this dissertation, we show that the large N physics of the SYK model is systematically described by a single bi-local field. In particular, we emphasize the appearance of the emergent conformal reparametrization symmetry at the critical IR fixed point and the corresponding divergent contribution of the symmetry modes in the propagator of the bi-local field. We discuss non-linear-level derivation of the zero modes effective action, which is given by the Schwarzian derivative for finite reparametrization symmetry. Besides the symmetry modes, which correspond to the dilaton-gravity sector in the dual AdS theory, the SYK model also predicts an infinite tower of matter fields in AdS_2. We demonstrate that this infinite spectrum can be nicely packaged into a single field in 3-dimensional space-time. Finally, we consider the question of identifying the dual space-time of the SYK model. Focusing on the signature of emergent space-time of the (Euclidean) model, we explain the need for non-local (Radon-type) transformations on external legs of n-point Green's functions. This results in a dual theory with Euclidean AdS signature with additional leg-factors. We speculate that these factors incorporate the coupling of additional bulk states similar to the discrete states of 2D string theory.
