Abstract

Abstract We present a method to accelerate the adiabatic quantum dynamics of two-site Bose–Hubbard systems by using the fast-forward method proposed by Masuda and Nakamura. The accelerated scheme is constructed by adding a driving Hamiltonian to the original Hamiltonian and introducing a large time-scaling factor together with an adiabatic parameter, enabling adiabatic quantum dynamics within a shortened timescale. We apply this protocol to a finite-time ground-state preparation in the two-site Bose–Hubbard model. For two bosons, the dynamics reduces to a two-level problem in the symmetric Fock subspace, which yields an analytic current-like auxiliary coupling that suppresses diabatic transitions during an initial ground-state configuration to a desired final ground-state configuration. For three bosons, the Hamiltonian separates into symmetric and antisymmetric parity blocks; the symmetric block governs ground-state preparation from the normalized state 1 2 | 2 , 1 ⟩ + 1 2 | 1 , 2 ⟩ ), while the antisymmetric correction is relevant only for transitionless driving in the full-parity sector. For four bosons, the exchange-symmetric sector is three dimensional. This three-level structure constitutes the principal multilevel extension presented in this work. Numerical solutions of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation show that the fast-forward Hamiltonian maintains high instantaneous ground-state fidelity and reproduces the target population distribution within the prescribed finite protocol time, whereas evolution under the bare Hamiltonian produces appreciable diabatic excitations. The protocol provides an analytically tractable example of fast-forward control in an interacting bosonic dimer.

Fast-forward adiabatic quantum dynamics of XY spin model on three spin system

Abstract We discussed a method to accelerate an adiabatic quantum dynamics of XY spin model by using the fast-forward method proposed by Masuda and Nakamura. The Accelerated scheme is constructed by adding the driving Hamiltonian to the original Hamiltonian and speeding it up with a large time-scaling factor and an adiabatic parameter that realizes adiabatic quantum dynamics in a shortened time. Accelerated adiabatic dynamics start by assuming the candidate of driving Hamiltonian consists of the pair-wise exchange interaction and magnetic field. The driving Hamiltonian terms multiplied by the velocity function together with the original Hamiltonian give fast-forward driving for adiabatic states. We apply our method to XY spin model by considering three spin systems on the Kagome lattice. In this model, we obtained the XY pair-wise exchange interaction of nearest neighbors and next-nearest neighbors should be added to the original Hamiltonian as a driving interaction to accelerate the adiabatic motion. This pair-wise driving interaction in the fast-forward scheme guarantees the complete fidelity of accelerated states.

Acceleration of adiabatic transport of interacting particles and rapid manipulations of a dilute Bose gas in the ground state

Shumpei Masuda

We show a method to accelerate quantum adiabatic transport of identical spinless particles interacting with each other by developing the preceding fast-forward scaling theory formed for one-particle systems [Masuda and Nakamura, Proc. R. Soc. A 466, 1135 (2010)]. We derive a driving potential which accelerates adiabatic dynamics of quantum systems composed of identical particles in order to obtain the final adiabatic states in any desired short time. We also exhibit an ideal rapid manipulation of dilute Bose gas in the ground state without energy excitation by using the fast-forward scaling theory.

Quantum shortcut to adiabaticity for state preparation in a finite-sized Jaynes-Cummings lattice

Kang Cai, Prabin Parajuli, Anuvetha Govindarajan +1 more

In noisy quantum systems, achieving high-fidelity state preparation using the adiabatic approach faces a dilemma: either extending the evolution time to reduce diabatic transitions or shortening it to mitigate decoherence effects. Here we present a quantum shortcut to adiabaticity for state preparation in a finite-sized Jaynes-Cummings lattice by applying counterdiabatic (CD) driving along given adiabatic trajectories. Leveraging the symmetry of eigenstates in our system, we convert the CD driving to an implementable Hamiltonian that only involves local qubit-cavity couplings for a two-site lattice with one polariton excitation. Additionally, we derive a partial analytical form of the CD driving for the lattice with two excitations. Our numerical results demonstrate that circuit errors and environmental noise have negligible effects on our scheme under practical parameters. We also show that our scheme can be characterized through the detection of qubit operators. This approach can lead to a promising pathway to high-fidelity state preparation in a significantly reduced timescale when compared to conventional adiabatic methods.

Fast forward of adiabatic quantum dynamics: an application to planar Dirac systems

Iwan Setiawan, Riska Ekawita, Ryan Sugihakim +1 more

We study a scheme of fast-forward adiabatic quantum dynamics of a (2 + 1) Dirac particle. This scheme was originally proposed by Masuda and Nakamura. In this scheme, we include the adiabatic parameter that maintains the adiabatic motion of the particle and fast forward its motion by introducing a time scaling parameter. The fast forward adiabatic state is obtained by determining the regularization term and driving potential. We introduce the proposed method to the system with the Dirac particle using a (2 + 1) dimensiontime- dependent Dirac equation and obtain the regularization term, the driving scalar potential VFF and the driving vector potential AFF . By tuning the driving electric field, this method can accelerate the adiabatic dynamics of an electron as a Dirac particle trapped in the ground state in the plane xy and an electric field in the x direction and a constant magnetic field in the y direction. This acceleration will preserve the ground state of the wave function from the initial time to the final time.

Fast-forward scaling in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space

Kazutaka Takahashi

Time evolution of quantum systems is accelerated by the fast-forward scaling. We reformulate the method to study systems in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space. For several simple systems, we explicitly construct the acceleration potential. We also use our formulation to accelerate the adiabatic dynamics. Applying the method to the transitionless quantum driving, we find that the fast-forward potential can be understood as a counterdiabatic term.

Fast generation of spin-squeezed states in bosonic Josephson junctions

Bruno Juliá-Díaz, E. Torrontegui, Joan Martorell +2 more

We describe methods for the fast production of highly coherent-spin-squeezed many-body states in bosonic Josephson junctions. We start from the known mapping of the two-site Bose-Hubbard (BH) Hamiltonian to that of a single effective particle evolving according to a Schr\"odinger-like equation in Fock space. Since, for repulsive interactions, the effective potential in Fock space is nearly parabolic, we extend recently derived protocols for shortcuts to adiabatic evolution in harmonic potentials to the many-body BH Hamiltonian. A comparison with current experiments shows that our methods allow for an important reduction in the preparation times of highly squeezed spin states.
