Dynamical collapse in a degenerate binary fermion mixture using a hydrodynamic model

Sadhan K. Adhikari

We use a time-dependent dynamical hydrodynamic model to study a collapse in a degenerate fermion–fermion mixture (DFFM) of different atoms. Due to a strong Pauli-blocking repulsion among identical spin-polarized fermions at short distances, there cannot be a collapse for repulsive interspecies fermion–fermion interaction. However, there can be a collapse for a sufficiently attractive interspecies fermion–fermion interaction in a DFFM of different atoms. Using a variational analysis and numerical solution of the hydrodynamic model, we study different aspects of collapse in such a DFFM initiated by a jump in the interspecies fermion–fermion interaction (scattering length) to a large negative (attractive) value using a Feshbach resonance. Suggestion for experiments of collapse in a DFFM of distinct atoms is made.

Fermionic Genuine Multiparty Entanglement

James Allen, Liuke Lyu, William Witczak-Krempa

Entanglement can show fundamentally different behavior in fermionic systems. However, while bipartite measures of fermionic entanglement have been established, genuine multiparty entanglement (GME) in fermionic systems is much less understood. We introduce an efficiently computable measure (via semi-definite programming) of fermionic GME, fermion genuine multiparty negativity (fGMN), and show that it is an entanglement monotone and a natural multipartite extension of the fermionic negativity. Using this measure, we find many states which have fGMN but no non-fermionic GME, including large classes of fermionic stabilizer states. The fGMN also displays some major phenomenological differences to the bipartite fermionic negativity, such as finite sudden death points over separation and temperature.

Mixing-demixing in a trapped degenerate fermion-fermion mixture

Sadhan K. Adhikari

We use a time-dependent dynamical mean-field-hydrodynamic model to study mixing-demixing in a degenerate fermion-fermion mixture (DFFM). It is demonstrated that with the increase of interspecies repulsion and/or trapping frequencies, a mixed state of a DFFM could turn into a fully demixed state in both three-dimensional spherically symmetric as well as quasi-one-dimensional configurations. Such a demixed state of a DFFM could be experimentally realized by varying an external magnetic field near a fermion-fermion Feshbach resonance, which will result in an increase of interspecies fermion-fermion repulsion, and/or by increasing the external trap frequencies.
