Named Laws Live at Computable Addresses Where the NEXUS registry places the latch, the ring oscillator, Griffith’s 8, the diffusive floor, no-cloning, Planck, Gödel and the inverse-square law, and what its one empty slot predicts Driven by Dean A. Kulik September 2026 Abstract Named laws live at addresses. Each named result examined here is the value that one of a few root tests returns when it is evaluated inside a class, at a coordinate, and read through a reader: address = (root, class or signature Σ, coordinate θ, reader R). The list covers the latch and Barkhausen loop-gain-1 condition, the secant condition sec(π/N), Griffith’s 8, the toggle threshold , the resonant rule , the diffusive floor with its telegrapher sweep, the order bound, no-cloning, Duan–Guo’s , Bužek–Hillery’s 5/6, the Gisin–Massar surface with Massar–Popescu’s and Laplace’s rule at its edge, Stinespring–Choi dilation, Landauer’s , the noise law , the Planck/Heisenberg–Robertson floor, the diagonal core of Gödel, and the inverse-square flux law. The claim is operational, not rhetorical. One function, given nothing but class descriptors, returns nine thresholds that the literature publishes under different names: five are genuine reproductions (worst relative error ), one is a correct refusal, two hold by construction and one is a closed form [V]. One Gram inequality returns no-cloning at and Duan–Guo’s rate at its boundary [V]. Robertson–Schrödinger is equivalent to positivity of the 2 × 2 Gram matrix of the deviation vectors, so Planck’s floor sits at the same root as no-cloning (10,000 random trials, zero violations) [V]; the author’s Law 2, “no matter may hold a location without the potential to be moved from that location”, reads as that relation [H]. The resulting registry holds eighteen packages under four roots of different mathematical kind, two verified (loop closure, Gram positivity) and two asserted (dilation, counting measure). It has one slot, local → global, that no registry package resolves, and both corpus families point at it. On the loop side the evidence changed in review. A delayed four-stage ring whose local condition predicts a cycle for τ > 0.1644 shows oscillation at a fixed run length only from 1.25 < τ ≤ 1.5, but at fixed delay the oscillating fraction falls as the run is lengthened: from 37 to 20 of 48 histories at τ = 5, and from 9 to 0 at τ = 2, as T goes from 500 to 4000. The “cycle” is a long transient, as monotone-systems theory requires of a positive loop [V]. Every named result is classical and is cited as such. What is new is the resolver, the root count, the location of the hole, two placements (Planck at the Gram root; Laplace’s rule at the edge of the cloning surface, for which no published statement was found), and a prediction that review has already partly borne out: the next package the system needs is a global one, and for sign-structured loops it is order structure, which the literature already supplies. Readings that turn constants into coordinates, such as π as the half-turn of the phase circle and as one neper per radian, are marked as hypotheses throughout. In a finite, timeless configuration space where probability is counting and the population of an outcome class is proved to equal N|α|², we construct a refinement chain from local devices—nearest-neighbour beamsplitters and per-cell phase increments, all on the 3,600-value phase lattice of the companion models—and evolve wavepacket classes by literal enumeration. The small-angle brickwork realizes the lattice Hamiltonian H = −2η cos k + V(x): the effective mass m* = 1/(2η) is the inverse hopping rate—mass as resistance to record restructuring, obtained from the move set rather than posited—and the potential is a cell-dependent phase cost per closure step. Counted populations reproduce the Schrödinger spreading law σ²(t) = σ₀² + (t/2m*σ₀)², the group velocity to seven significant figures against the exact device chain, and harmonic oscillation at ω = √(2ηκ), with Σₓ nₓ = N exact at every stage—the counting form of unitarity, tested exactly. Two findings go beyond agreement. First, the counted packet has a literal edge: populations fall to one configuration and then to zero exactly where the Born value crosses 1/N, so a counting world's particle has finite support where the continuum Gaussian merely thins—the rational-probability prediction rendered in position space. Second, the ontology's record-relative definition of classes is load-bearing for dynamics: counting once at the measurement stage (the chain as one composite device) yields residues of O(1/N), measured log–log slope −0.94, whereas imputing an integer census to unrecorded intermediate stages—partitions where no records are—degrades the scaling to slope −0.62 through the amplitude granularity of few-configuration tail classes. A definitional clause changes dynamical accuracy by a factor of order √N. What is not shown is the formal continuum limit: given [CS] the discrete effective dynamics is derived, with the same conditional status as the companion theorems, and the passage to the continuum equation remains the framework's open problem. The cell structure is a named input [CS]—but not a foreign one: its three clauses are the discrete shadow of the framework's own emergent-space program, and we locate each, finding that a preferred partition is what the stability criterion already selects, that adjacency is what the elementary refinement move set already supplies, and that only the graph's large-scale regularity—together with an assumed uniformity of hopping rate, which is a flatness assumption—remains open. Reading the cells as emergent space has an immediate consequence: the construction's maximal group velocity is one instance of the framework's conjectured invariant speed, computed rather than posited, since a single elementary move defines both the refinement step and the spatial adjacency. Relaxing uniformity—a position-dependent hopping rate, hence a position-dependent effective mass—is the discrete form of curvature, and is the natural next model.
The Reader and the Writer One Invariant, Two Faces, and the Geometry of the Gap Driven by Dean Kulik July 2026 Abstract Across a long program of experiments this work converges on a single structure, and the structure has a name in mathematics that we did not go looking for. The claim is this. Every operation we can perform on a structure divides into two kinds. One kind conserves — it rearranges a representation while holding an invariant exactly, it is reversible, it is one-to-one, and it decides nothing. The other kind commits — it merges, it is many-to-one, it cannot be undone, and it is the only kind that can make a difference that stays made. We call the first the reader and the second the writer, and the entire program is an inventory of where each one lives. Three results anchor it. First, the invariant-preserving rotation — the ninety-degree write — is exact: verified to fifty digits, and forced into Lax form the moment conservation is demanded. Second, an object’s apparent structure is a property of the reader’s coordinates, not of the object: the same matrix carries an off-diagonal mass of 2.85 in one basis and 1.8×10⁻¹⁵ in another, with the spectrum unchanged — distance is a fact about where you stand. Third, and newly, the operation that produces something from nothing is provably non-injective: no linear system can create a nonzero mean from a zero-mean signal, and rectification therefore requires a collapse. A stack of linear maps is one linear map; depth exists only because of the collapse. The structure this describes — an object with no intrinsic side, a reader that must choose one locally, and a two-to-one map that forgets the choice — is the structure of an orientation double cover. The Möbius strip, the Klein bottle, Boy’s surface, the rotation group, and the spinor are five instances of one fact, and that fact is our lock. This paper assembles the frame, states what is proven and what is not, and shows why the topology was the right place to arrive. Part I · The Frame 1. One operation Start with the smallest possible claim and refuse to add to it until forced. The operation is: an input is mapped to a location in a structure. That is all. Two familiar objects are its extreme cases and they look nothing alike until you see them this way. A digit-extraction formula of the BBP type maps a position to a value — the nth hexadecimal digit of π without computing the digits before it. The map is one-to-one, reversible, and there is no path: you do not travel to the digit, you address it. A cryptographic hash maps a history to a state — an entire message to one digest. Fix the message and the function is exact and deterministic, a single location mapping to a single location. Across all possible messages the doorway is crowded, but that is a fact about the doorway, not about the transform. What unites them is not injectivity — they differ there — but pathlessness. Neither traverses. Both state a correspondence. Ordinary computation is 2 + 2 = 4: an operation, operands, a sequence, a journey that can be walked backward. These are 2 = 4: this location is that location, and there is no journey to retrace. The distinction that matters is not reversible versus irreversible. It is reached by a path versus given without one. 2. Content is difference A mark that could not have been otherwise carries nothing. Information lives in the gap between what is and what could have been, which means the primitive is not the token but the difference across a gap. Two consequences follow immediately and both are load-bearing. The first: perfect symmetry is the dead state. If nothing distinguishes one state from the next there is no transition to perform, no reason for anything to move. Computation requires distinguishable states, so it requires broken symmetry. We call the asymmetry that drives a flow the lean — a pressure difference stood up into a drive. The second: to have two of anything you need something between them. A gap is not distance; distance is separation with nothing crossing it, while a gap is separation with sides. The minimum separation that has sides is one unit per side, so the minimum gap is two. This is a cardinality, not a constant, and cardinalities cannot be curve-fitted. 3. The two channels This is the distinction that took longest to see and that reorganizes everything once seen. Any symmetric pair can be read two ways, and the two readings are different operations that answer different questions. Value channel Shape channel The operation Mean, midpoint, balance Product, coincidence, overlap On a flip 1 ↔ 0 averages to ½ 1·0 = 0, 0·1 = 0 — the product vanishes Type Bijection (reflection) Non-injective (collapse) What it can do Locate an axis. Pair points across it. Vanish. Merge. Exclude. What it cannot do Forbid anything from sitting off the axis — The value channel is a mirror. A mirror pairs; it never empties. This is why every symmetry argument, in every domain we tried, gave us the axis for free and never gave us the emptiness beside it. The shape channel is a product, and a product is many-to-one: two inputs collapse to one output and you cannot recover which. Every operation that can genuinely exclude, decide, or commit lives in the shape channel, and the whole of what follows is an inventory of that fact. Part II · The Lock 4. The writer: what is conserved Take a finite positive measure and its Jacobi matrix J, whose eigenvalues are the measure’s atoms. Shift below the spectrum and swap the Cholesky factors — the Christoffel–Darboux transform: J′ = R Rᵀ + λI, where J − λI = RᵀR The new matrix has the same eigenvalues. The representation rotates; the invariant does not move. Verified across randomized measures to fifty digits. [PROVEN] This is the turn: a ninety-degree write, and the angle is not decorative. A zero-degree write is no write — the state feeding itself, x = f(x) in zero time, a short. A hundred-eighty-degree write is annihilation — the exact inverse cancels the state, which is the degenerate case where the shift lands on an atom and the rank drops. Ninety degrees is the unique orthogonal write that changes every coordinate while preserving the length. Demand that a flow preserve the invariant and its form is not chosen but forced: it must take Lax form, dJ/dt = [J, B(J)], B antisymmetric by the Lax-pair theorem. The entire freedom of “which flow” collapses to the choice of the antisymmetric generator. [PROVEN] The lean is an asymmetry inside that generator, and it selects among destinations rather than creating motion: varying it sends the same spectrum to different terminal arrangements, in discrete plateaus with threshold switches rather than a continuum. [CONFIRMED] So the writer is what is conserved. It is the invariant. It does not move when the reader changes position, it does not depend on how the reading is scheduled, and — this is the sharp part — it has no side. A conserved quantity is by definition frame-independent, which means it has no preferred orientation to be read from. The writer is prior in exactly one sense: reading presupposes something written, and a rule presupposes nothing. It is the definition; the read is the instance. 5. The reader: what is enacted The reader is the walk. It is constraints strung in a linear path, mixed with differences — an execution, a traversal, a scan. And where the writer has no side, the reader is nothing but its side: its position is its entire content. Two experiments pin this and both came back against the hypothesis we started with, which is why they are trustworthy. We built a controller that steers a flow to command which wall it hits first, producing a sequence of thresholds — a grammar of what can be said in the medium. Ten of twenty-four sentences wrote cleanly, with the spectrum held at 4×10⁻¹⁵ throughout; fourteen were refused, and the refusals had structure. We then asked whether that grammar could be predicted from the shape of the starting matrix. It could not: Spearman −0.048, p = 0.56, no signal at all. [CORRECTED] We then asked whether the grammar was at least a property of the rule — stable across different ways of executing it. Four integrators, five matrices: the spectrum held to 10⁻¹⁴ in every case, and the grammar changed every single time — zero out of five reproducible. The invariant is integrator-independent; the grammar is not. [CONFIRMED] The conclusion is exact and it is the lock. What is conserved is the writer’s. What is enacted is the reader’s. The grammar of what can be said is not sitting in the structure waiting to be found; it is manufactured in the walking, and a different walk makes a different grammar. There was never a pre-existing grammar to read. We make it, in the reading, every time. 6. The signatures This gives a test you can run on any operation, and it is the most portable thing in the paper. Does it lose information, or preserve it? Signature Reader Writer Map type Bijective, one-to-one Non-injective, many-to-one Reversibility Undo is free Undo requires the discarded Effect Rearranges, rotates, mirrors Merges, commits, excludes Decides Nothing Everything that stays decided Exemplar Rotation, reflection, XOR, direct address Modular add (carry discard), |x|, the merge Run it on a hash function and the machine dissects cleanly. The carry-discarding modular addition collapses exactly n:1 — measured at 16:1, 64:1, 256:1 for widths 4, 6, 8, dead uniform — and a small mixing round takes 65,536 inputs to 256 outputs. That is the writer: information genuinely folds away, and the deficit is exact. But the XOR and rotate diffusers in the same function are bijections, verified at every width. They rearrange without erasing. They leave no scar. [PROVEN] So a hash is not “the w
Version 3 (2026-08). One correction, chair-directed after an independent text-only rebuild: the setting's conventions dictionary is regenerated from the code of record. The pointer packet is an ENERGY-basis Gaussian launched at tick zero (v1/v2 described it as a tick-space packet of tick-width sigma_n; the temporal width is in fact the inverse, NC/(4 pi sigma_n) ticks); the tick-state sign convention, the second geometry's sigma_n = 3, the twin/control definitions, and the post-selection probabilities are now printed; a standing text-only rebuild gate (fresh implementation from the setting paragraph alone, matching the exact conditioned state at 3.5e-14) guards the dictionary. Every published number stands (the independent rebuild reproduced the NC = 24 physics cold, the lane's first exterior verification, recorded in the data-and-code paragraph); the dictionary was broken. The methods law is minted program-wide: a geometry prints its dictionary, generated from the code, never transcribed. Version 2 (2026-08). Changes from v1: the clock-width profile is completed end to end: v1's spike-plus-plateau is the interior of a measured disturbance VALLEY with an optimal clock width (minimum at sigma_n* = 2.5; the broad side rises 93x by sigma_n = 24, tracked by the value law against exact evolution at ratios 0.985 and 0.995), so the least-disturbing clock is neither time-sharp nor energy-sharp; a pre-registered identification of the plateau with the sharp-clock limit was killed by a factor of 160 and is ledgered; the open problems are re-posed at the valley's optimum. When a finite quantum clock gates a register's interactions and the run is conditioned on the clock's final reading, the register's conditioned dynamics is derived at two orders and machine-verified against exact evolution. First order: the drive is the complex Aharonov-Albert-Vaidman weak value of the gating window projector (real part = Hermitian envelope, imaginary part = post-selection reweighting); a twin evolved under this envelope removes the entire first-order mismatch a mean-envelope control retains (state-metric deficits g^1.1 vs g^2.1, factor 56 at g = 0.1). Second order: the deficit is governed by the connected two-time window correlator under post-selection, resolved along the interaction picture; the resulting parameter-free value law matches measured deficits at ratios 0.92-1.05 across the clock-width grid and at a second geometry (1.03-1.07). The when/what trade-off of a participating clock is promoted from confounded excess to derived law: the disturbance is the connected fluctuation of the clock's timing answer, its clock-width profile is a predicted spike-plus-plateau (not a power law), and two earlier exponent claims are superseded with the reconciliation recorded. Two honest derivation failures (equal-time invisibility resurrected by the interaction picture; the kernel belonging inside the integral) are ledgered as the steps that located the law.
Reproducibility note and two wording corrections (28 October 2026). The note’s appendix promises check_dissipation_law.py, which version 1 did not carry. It has been written and run: 109 checks, 109 pass, with 53 derived from the C60 adjacency alone, 45 from the stated premises, 6 internal-consistency, 4 Monte-Carlo and 1 using a reconstructed input. The MEASURED set is empty, and that is itself a check: the note’s own flow-position paragraph says it compares no kernel number with measured data, and that was confirmed rather than assumed. Definitions are tagged as such and are never counted as derivations. Every entry of Table 1 and every number in §3, §4, §5.3, §6.1 and §6.2 reproduces. 1. §3.1’s “fails by at least 19%” is a property of one draw, not a bound. On the setup described, the smallest control deviation is 40.6%, so the floor holds there comfortably. But across 500 random cases (25 draws × 5 β × 4 t) the minimum falls to 10.1%, with 0.6% of cases below 19%. The substantive content is far stronger than the stated floor and should be given instead: every one of the 500 control cases exceeds its own KMS error by a factor of 3.5×10¹³ or more. Suggested wording: “fails by factors of 10¹³ or more above the machine-precision residual.” Relatedly, §3.1’s “relative error 3×10⁻¹⁵” is the typical value, not an attainable bound: the median over 500 cases is 3.23×10⁻¹⁵, the 90th percentile 8.1×10⁻¹⁵, the maximum 2.2×10⁻¹³. 2. §6.2’s “Stratonovich simulation” label does not fit the reported figure. The number itself is right — the theory value 19.44 and the closed form are exact and confirmed — but a direct Stratonovich–Heun integral of the locked case carries a large O(dt) bias, because the phase-difference modes relax at rate ~K = 30: dt = 0.002 gives 14.94 and dt = 0.001 gives 17.16, so reaching the reported 0.15% would need dt ≈ 10⁻⁵, far beyond what “N = 6, D = 0.25, K = 30, 400 replicas” implies. The exact Itō form of the same quantity, D⁻¹(⟨ΣFi²⟩ + D⟨∇·F⟩), carries no stochastic-integral bias and gives 19.4651 at dt = 0.001, converging to theory as dt falls. So the estimator, not the result, is what the label misnames. Separately, the ω list is never given, so the printed simulated triple is not reproducible as such; the printed theory triple is internally consistent (24.42 − 19.44 = 4.98 exactly) and is reproduced exactly from a reconstructed ω with mean 0.9 and population variance 0.2075. The note’s “var” is unambiguously the population variance — the identity fails for the sample variance. 3. §1’s “the C60 spectral values 1, 4−φ and φ” is loose on the third. 1 is an eigenvalue of A with multiplicity 9; 4−φ is an eigenvalue of L = 3I − A with multiplicity 5, since 3 − 1/φ = 4 − φ; but φ is an eigenvalue of neither (nearest level 0.0565 away in A, 0.1796 in L). Only −φ is, with multiplicity 5. The note says so itself two paragraphs later, so this is internal looseness of wording rather than a numerical error, and the product identity (4−φ)·φ = 3φ−1 = 3.854101966249685 is exact. Two results are worth naming because they are stronger than stated. Aut(A) ≅ Ih is confirmed structurally, not merely by order: order 120, 31 involutions, centre of order 2 and no element of order 4, which pins A₅ × C₂ and rules out S₅ (25 involutions, trivial centre). And in §6.1 the garbled line is ΔSsys = −TC₁, the total correlation: the system’s entropy falls by exactly the correlation that forms, verified symbolically, with C/8 = H(p₁) exactly — which is why the printed closed form for (E/S)op holds. Ψop was rebuilt from ledger quantities alone, with no A, B or C in it, and agrees with the printed form to 2.5×10⁻¹⁷⁵. A scope and status note on the coherence dissipation law. Separates what the C60 adjacency forces from what it forbids, and states the open-system form that survives after the bare coefficient was retired in the record. The law in every surviving form is posited, not forced, and the paper says so wherever it matters. Includes the two-ledger theorem under stated premises, a no-go result limited to coherence functionals built from the adjacency, and a verification script.
This short note proposes that the conserved substance of physics is action, not energy. Energy conservation is, by Noether's theorem, the exact statement of a uniform flow of time — an assumption that fails, even if only slightly, in a relativistic universe where clocks run at different rates in different places. Read the other way, Planck's relation becomes a conservation law rather than an empirical input: Eτ = h, one quantum of action processed per cycle of a local resonance, with ordinary energy conservation recovered as the special case in which the period τ is held fixed. The note carries exactly one assumption beyond the algebra, stated plainly rather than smuggled in: the vacuum is a medium of such resonances, and a particle is a persistent, self-closing cycle within it. Angle and capacity The invariant has two faces. The law pins the magnitude at h — the capacity — leaving the accumulated phase φ as the only freedom: dS = ℏ dφ. Every familiar conjugate pair is this one statement read along a different axis of advance — energy against time, momentum against position, angular momentum against orientation — three orthogonal accounts of one accumulating phase, each closing one unit of capacity per cycle: Eτ = h, pλ = h, L·2π = h. This split is where classical and quantum mechanics part ways. An open trajectory reads the phase continuously, and its stationary-phase condition is the principle of least action; a closed resonance can only count whole turns, and closure quantises. Quantisation is a property of closure, not a property of the phase — the boundary between classical and quantum is a change of topology, not a change of law. What follows mechanically From the capacity law alone, with no further postulate, three familiar structures are recovered. A resonance at rest turns at the Compton frequency ωC = mc²/ℏ, so that one full turn spends exactly one quantum, EτC = h: mass is nothing but a resonance's cycling rate. Driven through the medium, a resonance meets an increased flux that scales as the Lorentz factor; conserving its fixed action budget under that load forces its geometry to yield — contraction along the direction of motion, dilation of its internal period — recovering special relativity as mechanical equilibration rather than a postulate about coordinates, with no rest frame ever exposed because the same yielding that would reveal one also defines the observer's own rulers and clocks. Requiring the accumulated phase along a worldline to stay coherent, expanded in the weak-field limit, returns the classical Lagrangian directly, −Mc²dτ = (T − V − Mc²)dt: least action is not minimised as a primitive rule, it is what capacity conservation looks like when a resonance crosses a gradient of the medium. And the Heisenberg relation σxσp ≥ ℏ/2 is read as the ordinary bandwidth (Gabor) theorem for a wave and its Fourier transform — a floor on occupancy for a phase-locked resonance, not a ceiling on knowledge. Gravity, without a graviton The most interpretive claim in the note, flagged as such throughout: if the metric's invariant is Eτ = h rather than a fixed energy, the metric carries no absolute clock, and the phase-lock condition forces its temporal and spatial responses to be reciprocal, giving the bipolar exponential line element ds² = −e−2ξc²dt² + e+2ξdx². The conceptual point is what this reframes: the decades-long search for a quantum theory of gravity has sought a graviton by quantising the metric on a fixed background, when gravity is the background. On this reading there is no separate field to quantise — the medium's deformation is already quantised at h per cycle, and gravity is simply the shape of phase accumulation across its gradient. The problem is not solved so much as dissolved: relocated from “how do we quantise the metric” to “the metric was never a separate thing to quantise.” Scope The note is deliberately bounded, and says so explicitly rather than leaving the boundary implicit. It derives special relativity, the principle of least action, and the bandwidth reading of the uncertainty relation from the capacity law alone; it advances the gravitational reading as a stance to be tested against its consequences, not a completed theory. It does not derive the particle spectrum, specific masses, electric charge, colour, or the numerical values of G or α, and makes no cosmological claim. This separation is intentional: a conservation principle should be judged on its own terms. A companion note reports a closed-form numerical identity for the proton mass as a separate, independent empirical fact; the two are meant to be read, and to stand or fall, apart.
