Physics Has Always Been Unified: General Timelessness, Null Proper Time, and the Clarified Architecture - Why Quantum Mechanics and Relativity Were Never in Competition

Abstract

Physics is already unified. The unification is not a mathematical framework yet to be discovered. It is an interpretive fact already present in the existing theories, unrecognized because the ontological consequences of null proper time were not consistently applied. The unified description begins from a simple distinction: laws are not time. Physical reality is governed by lawful structure, but time is not a constituent of that structure. A mathematical expression of a law may include a time parameter; that symbolic reference does not make time a component of the law itself. Time belongs to spacetime relations. Some outcomes permitted by lawful structure register within spacetime and thereby possess temporal ordering, causal relation, geometric localization, and observability. This yields a division of explanatory labor that the existing theories already perform: Quantum mechanics describes lawful eligibility: the admissible outcomes and the mathematical relations governing their amplitudes and probabilities. Special and general relativity govern relativistic registration: the coherent spacetime organization of registered outcomes. These are not competing descriptions of one temporal process. They describe different aspects of one lawful order. The diagnostic clue is null proper time. A photon accumulates no proper time. This is not a mathematical curiosity. It means the ordinary persistence narrative, in which a physical thing travels through successive spacetime locations while accumulating a history, does not apply to light. Once that consequence is honored, timebound spacetime registration is recognized as the special case in which time applies rather than the general condition under which law holds. The paper applies the resulting architecture to entanglement (one lawful relation, two local registrations, no propagation speed to compare with c), the measurement problem, and the double slit, and states explicitly what it does not claim. No new equations are required. No existing predictions are altered. The contribution is interpretive: recognizing what the existing theories already describe. Part of the Timeless Light Model (TLM) corpus.

The Atom Is Available When Called On - Stationary States as the Matter-Side Instance of General Timelessness

John Christian William McKinley

This paper supplies the matter-side instance of general timelessness on standard-physics territory. It introduces no new equations and alters no predictive machinery of special relativity, general relativity, quantum mechanics, or quantum field theory. The claim is that the lawful structure underlying bound matter is timeless in a sense that standard physics already grants. Stationary states have no time-dependence in their structural content. Energy eigenstates evolve by an overall phase that contributes to no observable. Ground states are the canonical case of time-independent structure. The Hamiltonian governing a bound system is itself time-independent under the conditions in which bound states are defined. These features are not interpretive additions. They are how standard quantum mechanics describes bound systems. Null proper time is the photon's route to timeless lawful structure; stationary-state time-independence is the atom's. Timelessness is the general condition of lawful structure; spacetime registration is the special case. The present paper draws the ontological consequence the formalism already permits. The bound state is in force as a timeless lawful structure, registered in spacetime when invoked by lawful coupling with an admissible interactant. Persistence is the non-lapse of the lawful structure across timelike ordering. The c-bound governs invocation propagation, not any hidden internal process. No traveler-substance occupies the interval between detector interactions. No granule sits beneath the registration. No component action is required to maintain the state. The hydrogen ground state is the worked example. The electron is not orbiting; standard physics has said so for a century. The present paper draws the further ontological consequence: the atom is not running any internal process at all. The kinetic energy expectation value is a structural identity of the stationary state, not a time-average of dynamical activity. The formal ingredients are standard. The ontological reading is not. Standard quantum mechanics supplies lawful bound-state structure; the present paper reads matter as the registered availability of that structure rather than as primitive substance beneath registration. The bound system is real; the lawful structure is real; the registrations are real. What is not required, and not supplied by the formalism, is a substrate sitting beneath the registrations as their hidden material. The atom is the lawful availability of a stationary structure, registered when called on. The claim is interpretive only.

A Minimal Structural Statement of the Timeless Light Model

John Christian William McKinley

This paper presents a minimal and explicit structural statement of the Timeless Light Model (TLM). It introduces no new physical theory, equations, or empirical claims. Instead, it consolidates results established across a sequence of recent constraint-based and interpretive works into an irreducible canonical form. The aim is clarification and compression. Well-established relativistic invariants—most notably null proper time for massless excitations and the absence of a rest frame for photons—impose strict limits on how persistence, intermediate dynamics, and temporal ordering may be interpreted. When these consequences are developed across multiple papers, explanatory devices introduced for pedagogical purposes can be mistaken for foundational commitments. This work separates what is structurally required by relativistic kinematics from what was introduced as explanatory scaffolding. The resulting canon consists of three elements: the Quantum Platform (QP), in which no temporal variables or ordering predicates appear; the Spacetime Deployment Frame (SDF), in which all temporal structure and physical sequence are defined; and CI-ARCs (Causal Instruction Arcs), which represent emission–absorption linkages without intrinsic ordering, persistence, or intermediate evolution. Several immediate consequences follow directly, including the localization of temporal ordering to the SDF and the inapplicability of retrocausality language at the level of CI-ARCs. The paper is conservative in scope. It modifies no equations, introduces no new observables, and remains fully compatible with Special Relativity, General Relativity, and quantum field theory as an operational formalism. Its contribution is interpretive: to provide a stable, minimal reference statement of the Timeless Light Model suitable for citation and use as a foundational baseline in subsequent work.

The Timeless Light Model: A Minimal Interpretive Completion of Relativistic Constraints

John Christian William McKinley

This paper presents the Timeless Light Model (TLM) as a minimal interpretive completion of standard relativistic constraints on massless excitations. Building on the kinematic result that photons admit no inertial rest frame and experience no proper-time evolution along null propagation, the paper examines how photon language can be used consistently once these constraints are taken seriously. The work makes no dynamical proposals and introduces no new physical structure. Instead, it addresses a persistent mismatch between common informal descriptions of photons as persisting spacetime objects and the resources actually provided by special relativity, general relativity, and quantum field theory. The Timeless Light Model articulates an explicit interpretive discipline in which “photon” language is treated as shorthand for null-mediated correlations between localized interaction events (emission and absorption), rather than as the name of a persisting object with a rest-frame-based internal history. The paper is deliberately conservative and empirically neutral. It does not claim unique correctness, nor does it compete with existing formalisms or interpretations. Its contribution is pedagogical and conceptual: to make explicit a constraint on informal interpretation that is already implicit in relativistic kinematics and field-theoretic practice, thereby reducing a common category error in discussions of photon persistence. This work serves as a companion to No Rest Frame, No Persistence: A Kinematic Constraint on Photon Interpretation, which establishes the underlying no-go result.

A Single Time Gradient Mechanism, for Inertia, Gravitation, Electromagnetism, Relativity, Cosmology, and Quantum Recovery.

yaniv riz

Physics is written in mathematics, and at the base of mathematics lies distinction: yes or no, identical or different, one or zero. A bit is the minimal written form of such a distinction. Physics can therefore measure only what can become distinguishable. What cannot be distinguished cannot yet appear as a physical record. From distinguishability comes information; from the registration of information comes physical time. Unified informational Theory (UiT) presents a unified physical framework in which time, mass, force, thermodynamic directionality, electromagnetic coupling, nuclear structure, and horizon physics are expressed through one informational registration mechanism: closed phase becoming physical record. The central object is a closed-light phase carrier: a closed photon-like phase structure carrying informational increments of ℏ, rotating on a complex phase surface at the Compton frequency, with a Planck-scale phase radius. It is not treated as a point mechanically moving through ordinary three-dimensional space. Before measurement, its structure exists in the complex phase domain as physical distinguishability: real, active, and capable of producing measurable effects, but not yet written as an ordinary 3+1 record such as position, trajectory, detector event, clock reading, or linear-time history. Measurement is the operation that projects and registers part of this complex phase structure into ordinary record-space, using energy and carrying a thermodynamic cost. In UiT, linear physical time is the ordered registration of physical change into record. A record may be a clock reading, track, pointer state, detector click, environmental correlation, thermodynamic trace, or any stable physical mark. Time is not a passive background parameter. It is the informational order produced when phase structure becomes registered reality. The same principle also defines force. All forces are gradients of one underlying registration object, read under different load conditions, geometries, and coupling branches. A force appears where an invariant closed phase carrier is placed in a field whose time-registration rate varies across record-space. The carrier cannot change its own invariant Compton phase throughput, so the mismatch between invariant internal phase and local registration capacity becomes a physical force. Inertia and gravity are therefore not separate mysteries at the deepest level: both are responses of the same closed phase throughput to different ways of limiting temporal registration. Special relativity arises when recorded motion consumes part of the available registration bandwidth. Motion requires information about position and change of position, and this cost enters quadratically. The carrier phase itself never stops moving; what changes is how much of its invariant phase throughput can be written as linear time rather than as recorded motion. Lorentz time dilation is therefore read as a registration-budget partition: motion spends part of the time-writing capacity. Gravity arises from the same Compton throughput read radially. A mass is not merely an object placed inside space. It is closed-light Compton sampling of a Planck registration-stiffness update. Around it, record-space has reduced capacity to write distinguishable temporal information. Less capacity remains for writing time, and the radial gradient of that capacity is read as gravity. In this view, space is not a rubber sheet that literally bends. Space is the local capacity to register distinguishable physical alternatives. Changing the time-registration capacity also changes the spatial registration structure, so the same geodesics are obtained, but their ontology changes: curvature is the metric bookkeeping of variable registration capacity. This same capacity logic leads directly to thermodynamics and entropy. Entropy counts the available or dispersed ways in which distinctions can be written, stabilized, erased, hidden, or made inaccessible. Thermodynamic directionality is not added from outside. It is the cost and irreversibility of registering physical distinction into stable record. Horizon entropy is the saturated boundary count of the same closed phase surface: the point where ordinary exterior registration reaches its limiting boundary. Electromagnetism is read as a phase-connection branch of the same object. Charge is not introduced as an unrelated primitive substance, but as a coupling orientation of phase registration. Electric and magnetic effects are different record-space readouts of this phase connection under different motion and registration conditions. The weak sector gives UiT its primary empirical handle. Radioactive decay is treated as a finite identity-rewrite process. In order for a decay path to be environmentally perturbable, the environment must couple to degrees of freedom required for reverse daughter-to-parent reconstruction. This requires local reverse temporal registration: a limited branch in which identity is locally unwritten and rewritten. From this postulate, UiT produces a taxonomy of radioactive-decay perturbability, functioning like a periodic table of decay influence. The table does not merely classify known decays by name; it identifies which decay channels can be perturbed and why, according to the informational variables required by the reverse reconstruction path. The strong sector is expressed through closed multi-carrier phase geometry. Three phase carriers form a zero-sum closure in the complex plane. What appears outwardly as fractional charge is a projection of a deeper internal closure: one-third is externally read, while two-thirds remain internally locked within the phase structure. This gives a geometric and numerical account of fractional charge weights, confinement architecture, and the Cornell-potential structure, while leaving full QCD dynamics and detailed coefficients as completion targets. UiT is not presented as a theory of everything, and it does not discard established physics. It proposes a deeper informational primitive from which quantum phase, relativistic time, gravitational distortion, thermodynamic irreversibility, electromagnetic coupling, weak decay, strong closure, and horizon counting arise as different expressions of one closed phase-registration object. The empirical content is twofold. The primary tested layer is the weak-sector perturbability table, which organizes radioactive decay channels according to the informational degrees of freedom required for reverse daughter-to-parent reconstruction. A second prospective discriminant predicts photon arrival-time delay with no linear Planck-energy term and leading quadratic Planck suppression. The compact unification principle is this: physical law is the geometry of informational registration. Time is the written order of phase registration; mass is closed-light Compton throughput; force is the gradient of registration mismatch; entropy is the count and cost of distinguishable writing; and the apparent separation between relativity, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, nuclear structure, and horizon physics reflects different readout conditions of the same underlying closed phase surface.

A Relational and Zero‑Proper‑Time Framework for Quantum Phenomena

Kacheong R. Yeung, Lex Yeung

Quantum phenomena are traditionally described as states evolving in spacetime, yet the zero–proper–time behavior of massless systems points to a different architecture—one in which propagation is not fundamental. Motivated by this observation, we develop a relational framework in which physical processes are represented not as trajectories but as relations between contexts and outcomes. The central object is a relational amplitude function R:B×O→C, organized as a fiber bundle whose slices R_b are selected by experimental contexts. Expressed entirely in standard mathematical terms—probability theory, quantum amplitudes, and fiber‑bundle structure—this relational architecture is precise and unambiguous. Interference, entanglement, and measurement emerge as geometric properties of slice selection rather than as dynamical evolution of a spacetime system. Interference arises when a slice contains multiple coherent contributions; entanglement arises from the non‑factorization of the relational object; and measurement corresponds to a context update rather than a physical collapse. The geometry of zero proper time motivates a shift from a spacetime ontology to a relational one, yielding a unified, non‑spatiotemporal account of quantum phenomena. The result is a structurally simple and conceptually coherent reformulation of quantum mechanics that dissolves long‑standing paradoxes and clarifies the relational foundations from which spacetime events arise. This is version 1.0 of the manuscript. Authors' note (October 2026). This is the original March 2026 manuscript, preserved unchanged as the starting point of an ongoing research program. It is a conceptual proposal, not a set of established results: the framework reformulates the standard quantum formalism in relational language and does not derive it. The proofs of Theorems 5.3 (entanglement) and 5.5 (no-signaling) require additional assumptions that the paper does not state, and claims that the framework “dissolves” the measurement problem or is “complete” should be read as aspirations. The original motivation subsequently led to investigations of geometric, analytic, and measurement-theoretic questions under more explicit assumptions. One such development is The Lorentz-Analytic Exterior: A Conditional Mathematical Framework (Version 2, October 2026), which examines related geometric and analytic structures without relying on the original paper’s zero-proper-time argument as a derivation of quantum mechanics. This later work does not validate the original manuscript’s unsupported claims. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23400176

Beyond the Timeless Universe: Registration Theory, Relational Quantum Time, and the Pre-Temporal Origin of Physical Time

EUGENE CATRAMBONE

The disappearance of external time from canonical quantum gravity has motivated approaches in which observable temporal evolution emerges from an underlying description without a fundamental external time parameter. The Page–Wootters mechanism demonstrates how conditional evolution can arise through correlations between subsystems within a globally stationary quantum description, while relational approaches associated with Carlo Rovelli similarly challenge the primacy of an observer-independent temporal background. This paper compares these approaches with Registration Theory (RT) and identifies a fundamental distinction. RT does not replace fundamental time with a fundamentally static quantum state. Instead, it proposes a pre-temporal ontology in which registration, distinction, successor dependence, retained consequence, and persistence precede physical temporal coordinates. The paper formalizes the distinction between primitive successor structure, retained history, and host-relative temporal representation. It proposes that the physical content of the past consists of consequences of prior registrations that remain distinguishable in present successor structure. On this account, time does not make change possible; persistent distinguishable change makes temporal description possible.A comparison matrix and proof-status audit distinguish established RT structures from derived propositions, conjectured compatibility, and open derivations. The paper identifies the derivation of relativistic temporal structure, Hilbert-space composition, and general quantum entanglement from registration as remaining research problems. The central distinction is summarized as follows: Registration Theory is not fundamentally timeless; it is pre-temporal.
