Linear canonical transformations and transformation functions of the squeeze operator

Abstract

We investigate the transformation functions of a general time-dependent linear transformation in coordinate-momentum phase space using the “Integration Within Ordered Product” (IWOP) technique. These transformation functions comprise a classical generating function which engenders a linear canonical transformation in coordinate-momentum phase space. This reveals a new correspondence between classical and quantum mechanics.

Mapping of classical canonical transformations to quantum unitary operators

Fan Hong‐Yi, Jack Vanderlinde

Classical linear transformations in coordinate-momentum phase space are mapped to unitary quantum-mechanical operators in Hilbert space to produce a generalization of squeeze operators. The classical to quantum transition is manifestly apparent in the derivation. The unitary operators are evaluated in the coherent-state representation using the ``integration within ordered products'' technique in the one- and two-mode cases. Application of these operators results in a new generalization of coherent states.

Canonical coherent-state representation of some squeeze operators

Fan Hong‐Yi, John R. Klauder

Using the IWOP technique (integration within an ordered product), the authors find canonical coherent-state representations of two kinds of squeeze operators. These representations manifestly show that they are quantum maps imaged by certain symplectic transformations in coordinate-momentum phase space. In terms of this formalism the coherent-state propagator of parametric amplifiers is easily obtained.

General Formalism for Mapping of Two-Mode Classical Canonical Transformations to Quantum Unitary operators

Hong-Yi Fan

Two types of canonical transformations in two-mode classical phase space are mapped into the quantum mechanical Hilbert space to produce some new normally ordered unitary operators. These operators are evaluated in the coordinate (momentum) representations using the "integration within ordered product" technique, and the mapping is manifestly apparent in the derivation. New generalized coherent states are constructed in terms of these operators, and the uncertainty relations for these states are analysed.

New Representation for Tensor Product of a Kind of Squeeze Operators

Fan Hong-Yi

Using the IWOP (integration within ordered product) technique, we construct a new state vector representation in two-mode Fock space. The tensor product of a kind of squeeze operators can then be well identified in the new representation, which manifestly shows that these squeeze operators are quantum maps imaged by certain symplectic transformation in classical phase space.

Canonical Transformations and Squeezing in Quantum Mechanics

José M. Cerveró, Rodriguez-Gonzalez, A.

In this Paper we present an approach to Quantum Mechanical Canonical Transformations. Our main result is that Time Dependent Quantum Canonical Transformations can always be cast in the form of Squeezing Operators. We revise the main properties of these operators in regard to its Lie group properties, how two of them can be combined to yield another operator of the same class and how can also be decomposed and fragmented. In the second part of the paper we show how this procedure works extremely well for the Time Dependent Quantum Harmonic Oscillator. The issue of the systematic construction of Quantum Canonical Transformations is also discussed along the lines of Dirac, Wigner and Schwinger ideas and to the more recent work by Lee. The main conclusion is that the Classical Phase Space Transformation can be maintained in the operator formalism but the construction of the Quantum Canonical Transformation is not clearly related to the Classical Generating Function of a Classical Canonical Transformation. We propose the road of Squeezing Operators rather than the old one attached to Quantum Operators constructed under the guideline of the exponential of the Classical Generating Function.

Study on Linear Canonical Transformation in a Framework of a Phase Space Representation of Quantum Mechanics

Raoelina Andriambololona

We present a study on linear canonical transformation in the framework of a phase space representation of quantum mechanics that we have introduced in our previous work [1]. We begin with a brief recall about the so called phase space representation. We give the definition of linear canonical transformation with the transformation law of coordinate and momentum operators. We establish successively the transformation laws of mean values, dispersions, basis state and wave functions. Then we introduce the concept of isodispersion linear canonical transformation.
