Abstract
This paper investigates the security of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols by leveraging the phenomenon of quantum decoherence. While decoherence is often considered a detrimental effect in quantum information processing, it presents a unique opportunity to analyze QKD protocols with greater depth. We model the decoherence process and analyze its impact on key secrecy and overall security, identifying potential vulnerabilities that might be missed by traditional security assessments. Our analysis provides insights into the limitations of current QKD protocols and suggests avenues for developing more robust security strategies. The core of this work focuses on simulating decoherence and quantifying its effect on key distribution, ultimately leading to a more realistic and nuanced understanding of QKD security. ---
